Over The Lunch

I couldn't move.

I kept looking at his blue eyes that were now as cold as ice. There was no emotion on his face that made him look even more intimidating. I even had a second thought if it was really him I'd spent the night with or I was just mistaken. But no, the longer that I looked into his eyes, I could see a brief flicker of recognition dancing around those blue orbs that he tried so damn hard to hide.

His gaze was cold. Terrible.

The way he looks at me seems like he was judging me internally. His stare was so intense that it rendered my ability to move.

What the hell is he doing here?

"Hey." A poke from my side grabbed my attention. I turned to Wenna. "You know him?" she whispered and looked nonchalantly at our guest.

I opened my mouth to speak but no words came out. I honestly don't know what to say.

I heard mommy speak so we both turned in her direction. I didn't answer Wenna but I know she will ask again later.

"Rajiv, I've heard you're going to study again? Is that true? Don't you want to work at your daddy's company right away?"

I saw Rajiv shake his head.

"Will only take a master's degree, aunt," he politely answered my mom.

In all fairness to him, hmm. Even though he looks intimidating, he is still polite. The way he addresses my parents with aunt whenever he speaks to them with utmost respect, tells me how good his parents are upon raising him.

I turned my gaze to him.

He was now looking at my mother as they talked about random stuff. His voice was kind while talking to my parents. His movements are finesse, as if it was already calculated before he made a step.

I also studied in etiquette class before but he, it seems that being refined in his movements is really in his blood.

But then again, his actions now were quite different from how he acted last night.

Maybe it's seasonal? Bipolar?

Or maybe it wasn't really him last night?

But it's impossible... He and the man I met last night have the same face. Even the height. The eyes most especially. I can't be wrong. It was him. He is the handsome guy I slept with last night.

Plus the fact that his eyes widened when our gaze met earlier, I'm sure he knew me, and so am I to him.

Now, the atmosphere has become awkward for me. Not only was I facing the man who took my virginity last night but also I was facing my oblivious parents in front of him. My parents strongly believe in marriage before sex.

Probably sensing that I was staring at him for a long time, he snapped his head in my direction. I immediately looked down at the plate in front of me and pretended to be busy with food.

When I glanced up at him, I caught him still looking at me so I quickly looked down again.

Mom spoke, "Anyway, these are my daughters. You already know Brit, right?”

Rajiv nodded his head with a small smile. "Yeah."

I frowned. And since when did he know my sister? I didn't know him. I've never seen him even once. I'm sure my sister Brit, too. So how did he know my sister?

I turned to my sister when she laughed softly.

Does she know him, too?

Wow.

I felt a little out of place. I do not know. I don't know him, except last night. But that's just it. I only know his name and nothing more.

I also don't know whose son he is from mommy's circle of friends in elites. She has a lot of socialite friends.

My mom was a business woman while my dad was a politician. My sister now manages our business while daddy has retired from politics. They're both old now and they said they wanted to spend their remaining time in this world wandering across the globe. I'm a menopausal baby, after all, so it's understandable that I am still young while they're already on their seniors.

"And this pretty girl right there is my youngest daughter, Hassan. Beside her is my niece, Wenna.”

"Hi, handsome!" Wenna grinned widely as she waved her hands in a friendly manner.

My face probably was contoured with sourness. She's way too friendly for a stranger.

"Hi," he replied with a short nod. I gritted my teeth upon hearing Rajiv's voice greeting my cousin. I lowered my hand to my aching thighs and clenched my palms.

When he turned to look at me, I smiled. But what he did next shocked me.

He rolled his eyes at me!

My lips parted and I blinked. What...? What did... I do?

As for sister Brit, he offered her a smile. As for Wenna, he also greeted her back. But it was me, he didn't even try to be at least a bit polite? Jerk!

"Son, I hope you don't mind but, may I know if you're in a relationship right now?" mommy asked suddenly while holding her goblet containing an expensive wine.

That caught my attention.

All eyes darted towards Rajiv who was now sitting composedly across the table. It took him a long time to answer that question as if it was difficult.

It was just a simple question, right? Even a fool can understand that question. Why did he take so long to answer?

I don't know why, but I'm nervous about what he will answer. If he's in a relationship, then it just means he committed a sin last night. He cheated. And I'm an alliance of that sin.

Rajiv glanced at me as the corner of his lips curved up into a smirk. He then said, "Yeah, I am."

My throat was dry and I felt like the blood had fled my whole body from the extreme paleness. My chest tightened and my breathing became laboured.

I bit my trembling lower lip and looked away.

Asshole!
