Chapter 71 - Kayla

We’ve been down here for two weeks at this point. My clothes have gotten too tight for me to wear and Nyx and to scrounge up something for me to wear. At first, they were going to put me in some of the clothing that they had for the novices. It was readily available and it only made sense. But, apparently, the Red One threw a humongous hissy fit, saying that no filthy mutt would sully the clothing of the Crone.

So, they had to go buy clothing for me. Suited me fine. Their clothing stank of incense anyway.

I don’t know how, but Nyx never smelled like that to me. Maybe because her power wasn’t confined to that of the Crone, but came from Hecate as a whole. Depending on what power she was using, she smelled like incense, new spring leaves, or a summer breeze. But on a whole, she smelled mostly like a walk in the woods on a sunny, warm day.
