Keeping Her Close

The door creaked violently as a man opened the door for her. A stream of sunlight dashed into the warehouse but got lost in its darkness. She got inside the warehouse, apprehension uncoiled itself in the depth of her stomach like a wounded snake. The room was cold and dark but what made it ominous was a foul smell that infested it. The smell of charred skin. She didn't have to think hard to know whose. Her chest constricted painfully. Killian went way too far with this.

"Turn on the lights," she forced past a tight knot in her throat and demanded. She could hear her pulse in her ears. A soft click rung in the air before a faint light illuminated over him. It wasn't strong enough to light up the whole room but just enough to shed light on him.
