85| To Kill for Love

My eyes fluttered open, and once the sunbeams hit my face, I closed them back up and turned over to the other side, groaning in pain when a white-hot pain shot up my side.

I had a white t-shirt on, and pulling it up, I noticed that my torso was wrapped around in clean gauze with a slight blood stain on it.

All the memories came rushing back: taking a bullet for Balia, watching as Trey shot him to death, seeing a blurred image of Balia falling to the ground as she collapsed and watching myself being carried into my car. It had all gone by so quickly, and now, the bullet must have been extracted from my body.

I had to see Balia. I had no idea how long I had been out, but from the stiffness of my body, I knew it must have been for a few days. My joints hurt, and so did my back. My neck was stiff, and so were my wrists. Flexing every stiff joint in my body, I reached over to my phone to see that it wasn't there.
