Chapter 5: I will get you back, Cupcake!

Carlos POV

I expected to see her at the counter once I stepped into the cafe but she was nowhere to be seen. I only noticed there was one guy busy entertained the customer at the counter. I let my eyes wandered around the café, tried to search for her but ended with disappointment.

"Hello, good morning. What can I get for you?" The young boy at the counter asked.

"Good morning. May I know where my Cup- I mean Cassandra is?" I corrected myself before he noticed it.

"Oh, she will be here shortly." He answered politely.

"Great," I nodded. I ordered two breakfast sets for Miguel and me. We decided to dine at the rooftop while waiting for her. He tailed me from the hotel as he wanted to take a look at her face. I can't stop him, so I just let him joined me but not before warned him to stay quiet.

"This coffee shop is not bad with the vintage style," Miguel commented looking around the surrounding.

"Yeah, I know it is your style," I added, knowing that he loved the vintage theme and even decorated his penthouse in vintage style.

"I will be glad to know the owner. I guess we have the same taste." He chuckled.

"What time we will meet Mr. Smith?" I asked, remembered about the meeting that we talked about yesterday.

"Lunchtime," he answered while munching on the ham sandwich.

"Until what time you want to stay here?" He asked but before I could answer him, someone took my attention away. I could see her clearly as we were sitting at the table facing them but she didn't seem to notice me. She took a place at the table on the corner. Luckily she sat at the chair that was facing me, so I could see her face clearly.

I stared at her ignoring Miguel that was seated across me. She dressed in a maroon knee-length dress and it wrapped on her body perfectly. Her light brown hair was long and it reached the bra line. It was a bit messy in a nice way as the light wind was blowing it nicely. She put her hair to the right side and tugged the lost strand behind her ear. I wish I will be the one who does that.

"Hey," Miguel interrupted me. He snapped a finger in front of me. "You are obviously eye raping her," he said chuckling.

"That is not eye raping, I'm just admiring her mesmerizing beauty." I corrected him.

"She is indeed beautiful. No wonder she could catch your attention." He commented.

"Yes, she is." I continued to eat my breakfast while my eyes kept looking at her. She was just a few tables away from me and I have the urge to talk to her but I controlled myself.

"Do you want to greet her?"

"No, not the right time yet."

"When will be the right time?"

"Soon, soon enough," I said smiling at my own plan.

Miguel POV

I heard girls' giggles around us which were from the table that Carlos keeps his eyes on all the time. I turned and saw a girl in curly sorrel brown hair taking a place beside Cassandra.

"Who is that girl?" I asked while running my eyes up and down scanning her figure.

"Her best friend and at the same time is the owner of this cafe that having the same taste like you," Carlos said smirking.

"And surprisingly she is beautiful," I didn't notice my remarks until Carlos teased me.

"Someone is being caught." He mocked.

"I'm just surprised by her look. I never know someone like that will love vintage." I brushed off his assumption.

I kept an eye on her unintentionally. She drinks something from the cup and it stained her lips. She licked it away which resulted in me to smile looking at her.

"And you are eye raping her now." Carlos's statement made me turned and looked at him.

"I'm just admiring her mesmerizing beauty," and with that, we laughed in unison.

Carlos POV

I went to the cafe again after two days busy with meetings. Miguel said it will be a quick meeting but ended up we have some issues and it only managed to fix it in two days. I passed by the cafe for the past two days but I didn't see her. I came here alone today hoping that fate will give us chance to meet. I really missed seeing her face.

I ordered a breakfast set and chose the same spot as last time while waiting for her to show up. I only have two days left before leaving this city so I'm kind of in a rush with my plan.

Soon, I noticed that she was seated at the corner table with her best friend. They were talking about something and her giggles filled my ears. She looks pretty whenever she was laughing and giggling. I carefully took out my phone and snapped her picture. I smiled at my own attempt. Her friend stood out from her seat and headed downstairs. I took this opportunity and walked closer to her.

"Good morning." I greeted and stood across her. She lifted her face and narrowed her eyes due to the brightness of the sunlight.

"Hey, good morning." She answered eventually.

"Do you remember me?" I inquired.

"Yeah, yeah I remembered you," She said with a nervous voice.

"Can I sit here?" I asked, at the same time pointed at the empty chair across her.

"Yes, of course." With that, I pulled the chair and sat across her.

"So, you are having cupcake again for today." I smiled looking at the table that filled with cupcakes on a plate.

"Yes, do you want to try it?" She offered in a polite gesture.

"If you insist," I answered with a smirk. I took a cupcake from the plate and tasted it.

"Hmm, do you stay nearby?" She asked after a moment of silence.

"Nope, I came for my Cupcake," I answered her.

"Cupcake?" Her eyebrows knitted again.

"I mean for some business trip." She nodded with a smiling face.

"Can I ask you something?" I looked at her waiting for her response and she hummed in return.

"What do you do for a living?"

"I'm a writer. As you can see here, all the papers, notebooks, and tab," She chuckled and pointed to the table. "This is my work and part of my life. I wrote a few books and it was published. Recently, I wrote the new book and it turned out to be the best seller book." I could see her eyes were full of so much passion when she talked about her job.

I keep quiet and listen to her voice while she talked about her career and books. She suddenly stops talking and glance at me. She scratched the back of her head, feeling embarrassed for being talkative as she noticed I was observing her.

"I'm sorry, I talked too much." She smiled sheepishly, probably thought that she bored me out but she didn't know how much I wanted to record her voice and play it over and over.

"No, you don't. I love hearing your voice." She blushed upon my words.

"Can we befriend?" It came out naturally. I didn't plan for this.

"Sure, my pleasure," I wanted to shout when I heard her answer. It sounded like she said 'I do' for my proposal. She drove me insane.

What is your name?" Even though I knew it, but I still asked.

"Cassandra Johanson," she smiled. "And you?"

"Carlos Gonzales." I saw her eyes widened and she gasped. I waited for this moment for a long time. I wanted to see her reaction when she knew about my name.

"No, you are not." She retorted.

"Why do you say so?" I wanted to test her.

"Because that-that-" She can't find her word and obviously she was shocked.

"Because?" I encouraged her to continue her sentence but she looks at me without blinking.

"You can't be him." That's what she said and her next action made me regret it. She ran away from the table and disappeared from my sight before I managed to stop her. I stood there and saw her running out of the cafe.

"Shit!" I ruffled my hair.

I will get you back, Cupcake!
