Sixty One

Twelve years ago…

“Papa, when are we moving?” I asked my dad as I watched him pack the things he would bring later. He said he would earn from his friend’s wife who worked abroad because she had something for him, that it was a way to save money compared to sending it by ship, as it was faster to come home.

There were toys, soap, lotion, some thick blankets, curtains, and some perfume, and chocolates, we were also given some, they’re in the fridge, mom said every noon after eating, we can ask for some, I’m not really into sweets but I still like it, because it’s delicious.

We used to do that too, Papa sent a gift for me and Jepjep for Christmas, we got a nice one before, Papa gave me a white teddy bear with a talking one inside, Papa promised me he’d buy me a bigger teddy bear, taller than me, but until now, there’s none yet.

It’s okay, I still love Papa, Mama said he’s just busy with his work so I have something to bring to school, and I know that, I’m a grown-up girl already, I
