CLAIRE’s P.O.V.
“Don’t worry. I’ll still be your fake wife, no strings attached. After you take over your company, then I promised that you will never see my face ever again,” I said.
His face was unexplainable. Why did he always have to make me feel like this? His unsure expression... I don’t know if he’s worried or what.
I try to compose myself once more before I started to walk away from our place. I left him there, standing alone. This is me. I’m good at pretending. Putting on a facade of happiness behind my pain.
As soon as I leave the park, rain started to pour heavily. As if fate was doing all of this on purpose. The first time I met Darren, it was raining. Then now... Is this the last time I’m going to see him?
Tears unconsciously burst out from me. I cried hard and loud,
CLAIRE’s P.O.V.“Wife...” His eyes were now open, not wide enough but I know that he can see me.“Am I d-deaming?” he asked, smiling to himself. “You look beautiful as ever... I’m sorry for hurting you... I’m sorry...” I stiffened as he slowly brushed his fingers to my cheeks, wiping my tears away. Is this true? I felt guilty for a moment, knowing that I didn’t listen to him earlier... I should have patiently waited for his response. I shouldn’t have let my stupid emotions get in the way of our relationship.“Please don’t cry...”“Claire! The cab is ready!” Elijah rushed to us. Darren slowly drowned off to sleep again. I help Elijah assist him inside of the cab. We’re both quiet the whole trip, no one wants to utter another word. Until fina
DARREN’s P.O.V.“Engagement party?” I asked curiously to Dad. “Why do we need to do that, Dad? We’re already married, not just engaged.”“I know, son. But I wanted your wedding to be grand. Just let me take care of everything this time, okay?” I just nodded before letting him leave my office to prepare whatever it is that he said. The truth is, I’m not worried about the party... I’m worried that Claire wouldn’t come because I haven’t seen her for days since the moment that we fought in the park. That night, I intoxicated myself in order to forget the guilt and the voice of my conscience that keeps on haunting me. I miss Claire. I badly wanted to see her but I don’t know where to start after what I have done to her.“Bro!” I was stunned, seeing Elijah entered
CLAIRE’s P.O.V. The moment that I saw Darren standing a few meters away from me, I instantly felt secured. Maybe he did feel the same way as me... Just maybe.“C-Claire...” That voice struggled to pronounced my name. I turned my gaze upon him, surprise seeing him for the first time after we fought in this place. I tried to uttered some words, but I couldn’t. I can’t believe that Darren will find me right after what happened to us. He ran towards me before giving me a tight hug. My heartbeats undergo palpitation as soon as his body touched mine. I wanted to say something to him, but I can’t find the right words.“I-I’m sorry...” I heard him whispered. He set me free from his embrace before looking at me straight in the eyes. I’m still stunne
CLAIRE’s P.O.V. I stare at her as she made her way to the crowd. I don't know why I’m feeling nervous right now. I think something is up and I don’t know what is it yet. Darren wrapped his arms protectively around me as he saw the person I’m staring at. I badly wanted to ask him what is she doing here, at our engagement party. But then, I remembered that Mr. Herrera and Kate’s Dad are best of friends.“Are you okay?” Darren asked.“Yeah, I’m fine.”“Dad invited Mr. Frias and his whole family here, that’s why Kate came,” he explained, even though I didn’t ask for it.“Come, let us sit with Elijah.” I nodded before following him into where Elijah’s currently sitting at. We sat down, and some servants offered us drinks. I declined it, for it smell d
CLAIRE’s P.O.V.“Darren! Wait!” I shouted as I ran after him. He didn’t bother to look at me. He dashed inside of his car, slamming the door shut at my face. I tapped his window several times, but he didn’t open up. I can see him putting his key through the tinted window. When I realized that Darren doesn't want to talk to me anymore, I quickly went in front of his car, tapping the bumper of it in order for him to notice me. He blown his horn twice, but I didn’t move away or even bulge. This time, he finally hopped down to face me.“What the fuck do you want?!”“Darren... Please listen to me. Let me explain...”“Why would I?! I already saw it with my own eyes, Claire! What more do you want?! My money?!”“No! Just please let me explain everything...”“For what?! To make me believ
CLAIRE’s P.O.V. As I rushed through the hallways of the hospital, I can’t help but to feel the guilt because of what happened to Darren. This is all my fault. If only I’ve told him earlier, maybe he wouldn’t be surprised when Kate humiliated me in front of those crazy rich people. The flashing white lights of the hospital building is making me dizzy, thought I ignored it. I kept looking for someone I know, but I couldn’t see anyone. Until I decided to rushed into the emergency room hoping that Darren is still there. I calmed down as soon as I saw Elijah, standing next to the door of the emergency room.“Claire! Thank goodness you came!” he exclaimed.“What happened?” I asked, worried.“Darren has been in a car accident. It’s not that severe, and he’s still in his consciousness. Though he’s Dad wanted you
CLAIRE’s P.O.V. Three days to go before we leave the country, and a week before Darren and Kate’s wedding day. I shouldn’t have care less, but I can’t help myself. After what Kate had told me at Herrera Corp., I didn’t have a good night sleep.“We are going to New York! We are going to New York!” Alexa clapped her hands out of excitement. I didn’t told her about what happened the other day. I lied to her. I said that Darren and I saw each other but the truth is, we didn’t, ’cause I went home right after seeing his new fiance. I continued to packed my things up, forcing to kick some random thoughts about him. I grabbed my stuffs and stood up in order to put it in my luggage. But as soon as I did, I felt dizziness and I almost loose my balance. Alexa looked at me, worried.“Are you oka
CLAIRE’s P.O.V. Our plane landed ten minutes earlier than expected. Alexa and I breathed the fresh air, coming from the wide airport. Dad smiled at us as one of the flight attendants help him with his wheel chair.“I’m so excited to see grandma, Claire! I can’t wait to spend some time with her!” Alexa jumped up and down out of excitement.“We are going to see her sooner or later, so please, keep calm.” She just laughed at me before clinging her hand on my arm. We walked towards the airport building, for our grandma was surely waiting for us there.“Grandma!” Alexa ran towards her as soon as she came into our sight.“Alexa! Finally, I met you. You’re making me remember Clara, your Mom.”“Really? Mom look like me?” My heart melted as I thought that Ale
