Grace screamed, recoiling in terror. She fell hard to the ground, scrabbling backward.

Priscilla and June were equally frightened and rushed to help her up.

Wade stared at the shattered glass, swallowing convulsively. "Uncle… George..."

He'd witnessed cruelty before, but nothing like this. Clifford had just kicked George directly out of the building, and it was outright murder!

Clifford turned, his chilling smile back in place. "And which one is your precious cousin-in-law?"

Grace was in a full-blown panic, not understanding what was happening. "Mr. Clifford, what's going on? My cousin-in-law's uncle invited us, with a proper invitation! Why did you throw him from the building? He was one of your board members."

Clifford's booming laugh echoed. "George? He was a mere pawn for the Monroes. How could he possibly get you an invitation? By swindling in the Monroe name, the man was a liability. His death is no great loss!"
