33: Final answer?
Words blurred on Calvin’s screen. He had no idea why he was wasting his time here when he had been unproductive for most part of the day. He peeked at his wristwatch and sighed. 1:45 pm. He had never wished for Camilla’s disturbance like he did now. He needed a distraction. Someone to pull him out of this slump he was about to slip into.
His phone rang, but once he saw the name on it, he placed it face down. Charles. There was no point holding on or waiting for a girl who blatantly said she couldn’t marry him. He was doing himself no favours. So why couldn’t he stop thinking about her?
The door opened, and his assistant offered him a tight smile without entering.
“I was knocking, sir.”
He didn’t hear. Sitting up, he grabbed the armrests and released a breath. “Come in.”

A groan escaped Hana. She fluffed the hem of her dress and smoothened it again. Why did Charles want to see her? She already told him everything she knew about Kyle, which was so little. He had warned her to be careful around him without saying more. Now, he wanted to see her. Why? To cancel the wedding? He couldn’t. He was her only hope out of this place. He always preferred private spots.“Where are we going?” she asked the driver.“Almost there, miss,” the man replied.

A day had passed since Hana’s encounter with Charles. She stared at Kyle’s card, her fingertips dancing across his number. Her phone was on the table beside the card. Yesterday’s meeting had gone fine, perfect even. Calvin was in a good mood as he took the elevator to his office. It was 6:45 a.m., and he didn’t expect anyone to be there. But when the elevator coughed him out on his floor, the first person he saw was Destinee. She was trying to drag a table. Calvin scoffed, dropping his briefcase on the floor as he moved to help her. Destinee looked up when he pulled the other end of the heavy desk. “Sir? You don’t have to.” “I wouldn’t if you weren’t struggling,” he replied. Hana’s feet ached from standing for too long. Shopping with Mama wasn’t a fun adventure, and for someone who hated the whole concept, it was even more torturous. Tuesday rolled in slowly. The day was half spent, and Calvin was preparing to head to the set. He rechecked his wristwatch. Ten more minutes, and he would be done here. Making final touches to the document he was working on, he closed the file and shot to his feet. The board wanted an update. KJ had mentioned something about them reconsidering his spot. He was tired of fighting for it. But he wouldn’t give up his place so quickly, even if it was a losing battle.
