“How was your night?” His gruff voice filled my ears as he looked up from his phone when I entered the room where I was supposed to be spending the night. Surprisingly enough, it didn't startle me. And I'm sure he notices it too because he smirks and continues to repeatedly play with the lighter in his right hand.

“I don't have time for this.” I unbuttoned my coat and hung it on the brass tree by the door. It took me two tries, thanks to the tremble in my hand.

I seem to have one nowadays.

It’s the cold. I could blame it on that, or I can be honest about the fact that my hands tremble when I'm around him. The slight shake in my fingers when the memory of our shared night fills my mind or when he's nearby.
