2. The Hate

Shaydon is currently living his life according to his work, does not usually want to go back home and normally stays late and leaves the office after everyone. It seems weird to his workers, but no one ever affects him. He was soon going to be twenty eight, he was cold, workaholic and lost his belief in staying entirely happy.

It seemed that he just works and since no one would be at his home other than his father, he doesn't usually go home for anyone.

It was morning and Shaydon was having breakfast with his father. His father was very famous for a lot of years because his company’s over reaching success. Soon he gave all rights to his son, and since then Shaydon was handling all his business and being the only boss in his company.

Shaydon’s personality was not always like it was now, but after his mother’s death he was completely changed. And now, he keeps himself busy with chasing his own success now, not his father’s.

He had everything. Money, house, a big company, every essentials, everything could be done by his orders, but still he found himself in the need of something to be done. Only he knows. The black corner of his heart for someone who hurted him in the past.

"Son?" His father called him softly. He looked up from his coffee and hummed. "Why don't you take a day off? I haven't seen you taking one, and I don't know since when. Mark can handle everything for even one day, right?"

"No, Dad. I'm really fine, you don't have to think about this. And don't say anything to Mark, please. He's okay with what he's doing."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes. And see you at night, I should leave now." Shaydon got up from his chair and left quickly without hearing his father telling him ‘take care’.

Soon he reached his company, and after a while he was in his cabin, busy with his laptop. For some time he didn't look up, but suddenly he looked up from his laptop and paused. Then he stood up from his seat and began to look straight out from his office window silently with his hand in his pant’s pocket.

After a few seconds he heard someone come in, "How are you stepping inside without knocking?" He said direly and turned back. "Do you want to get fired for this ill manners?"

He said to his assistant Lily, who was standing with the tray and coffee on it, instantly looking down. And said embarrassedly, "I'm so sorry Sir, it was a mistake. It will never happen again, please don't fire me. Please-"

"Get out for now, and keep this as a warning."

"Sorry Sir." She said and left. He looked back again and looked at his watch, waiting for the meeting which was held in the evening. Then he heard a knock on the door and he turned back because he thought it was Lily again, but stopped.

Mark, the manager of one unit team, works on one side of the company, but is friends with Shaydon because of his father and since Shaydon doesn't make one. He was nothing like Shaydon. He was handsome, exciting, a good person, good at his work, always smiling but one thing was common, he also was single.

"Hey. Can I come in, Sir?" He said teasingly, and walked in. "Hey. Come, why are you here?" Shaydon said and took a seat. Mark came and started walking to the side of his seat.

"I was free. So, I thought of telling you about a few people who will be coming for an interview. Lily was coming, though. But after you scolded her, I thought about coming to you. It's nothing I can't do."

"But you didn't have to, she should have-"

"Oh, please, Shaydon. I told you it's nothing. So," He put a file on the table in front of him, "I took it directly from her, so take a look at these and then you can decide when they'll come. Okay?"

"Really? Do 'I' have to?" Shaydon said not caring but still began to look into it.

"Have I told you, my mom wants me to get married. Like, suddenly? What is my age, huh? I should be dating, but no. You tell me? To whom should I get married? It's been a long time since I broke up with my girlfriend for good. And honestly I didn't love her, I know it."

Shaydon was smiling while listening to him and shook his head, but when he stopped his eyes at a specific person’s resume, his whole being stopped and his smile faded. Mark looked at him between his talks, but stopped when he saw him.

"What's wrong, Shaydon?" He asked,

"'That' girl is coming for this job." Shaydon spoke without looking up from her picture.

"But she thinks…"

He looked up at him, "Yeah."

Mark walked in front of him and leaned a bit to him. "But you didn't want to see her face, right? So what would you do when she comes here? After all, because of her you-"

"Yeah. I didn't forget, nor could I ever. I can't forget 'her' face, Mark." He got up and his expressions were like he was lost in some moment. "Fate has given me this golden chance after six years to look closely at the old days."

"So, will you give her the job? Absolutely you'll not. Why would you want to see her face everyday? Right?"

"Not a job, I only want to give her torment." He looked at him and said with an invisible expression. "And who knows, that could be in the face of this job?"

Mark didn't understand and tilted his head a little, "Huh? Um, maybe I should go. As you know, my mother wants me to get married. So I have to meet this girl, um, no one." He quickly said and began to leave, but stopped and said before leaving. "I will ask you about that interview later, don't forget it."

After he left, Shaydon was in his thoughts and looked back at that file. But sat back and didn't look at it again, just the time began to pass until she came.

Soon he was busy with his work, then, he looked at the time and realized its time. He leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes for a moment and looked down.

'Don't come, please.. I can't bear it, it's not in my-'

But she was told to go in there and the door opened. He opened his eyes and heard her come. He forced himself to look up at her, her feet frozen. She opened her mouth a bit, looked shocked but happy.

"You.. are alive?"

Her question put daggers on his heart. He knew this would be in her mind until now, but from this moment he knows this too, that it won't now.

Selena quickly zipped her mouth after looking at his expression,

'What if he is alive? He probably didn't want to remember me.'

Being tense, she took steps ahead and he abruptly moved his gaze from hers. "Take a seat." He ordered, and began to open that file. She sat in front of him and began to closely observe him without moving, not knowing how this meeting came in her life?

'You are not aware of my realization.. I couldn't even apologize. I never thought you would come in front of me like this. I don't believe in the change of situation.'

He opened her resume and his hand began to tremble. He tried not to look at her,

'For the first time in six years my hands are trembling. Why the hell?'

"Shayd-"

She was about to call his name but he began to say, "You have.. You have quit work experience. Why did you leave your previous job?"

"I got fired." There was nervousness in her voice, and she forced her eyes to move from his face.

"Why?"

"I made a mistake."

He was silent for a second, "Are you sure it was a mistake, Ms.. Selena?"

She quickly looked at him after she heard her name from his mouth, and Shaydon was still after saying it. "What was it?" He asked again.

"Um.. it doesn't matter, please, I just know that I've been in need of a job for almost a month and I was hoping-" she stopped, not knowing to say this to 'him' to give her this job. "I could get it in this… comp.. Um,"

He cleared his throat, and his jaw clenched after listening to her voice this much after all these years. She gathered courage, and tried to say even this bit, "You have changed a lot. I don't know how to say it, but I'm happy for you-"

"Unfortunately, we have a place for the post you have applied for. But, I still can't tell if you'll get it, because there are more people in line after you as well."

'You are not looking at me..'

She thought and was silent after he said to her. And after a second she said,

"I think you don't want to, or you just don't remember me. Or else why would I be present here, I guess…" She looked down shamefully, trying to give him a little hint that she was not what she was like before.

He still didn't move his eyes to her, and she said again. "I just told you I need the job, but If there's a chance then I'm good at my work too. To be honest, I didn't know it was your company."

'Now that you are desperate for a job, you are being nice. Typical.'

Selena smiled weakly and looked down, "Look, now I'm in front of you helpless like you were back then. Just that.. In different scenarios." She completed quietly, and he stopped with a serious expression. She 'made' him unwillingly remember.

"I do."

She looked up at him, "Hm?"

"I do remember you. How can I not? I can't forget the face of someone because of who my life got upside down, I was unable to walk on my own life’s path."

She gulped after hearing it, and he again began to say, "What did you say? Are you happy to see me changed?" He finally and with difficulty looked at her 'now'. "You really think you deserve to be happy?"

"Huh?" She couldn't speak and said with confusion.

"You don't. You don't deserve it, let alone for me."

She couldn't move. And he said again with a stone cold voice. "And I'm in front of you alive because I have to witness this day today. To witness my bad luck again."

'No… I really want to tell you I'm not like before. But how?' She thought heartbreakingly.

"And now, so you know Ms Selena. Players don't get to be a part of this company. You can leave now." He ordered with authority while staring at her and closed the file hard, so that she could hear it.

She just began to get up from her seat, knowing it was not in her hand plus useless to say anything and turned to leave. She came out of his cabin and thought,

'I am facing what I did to you. I was late to know what exactly happened and about you, Shaydon.'
