A morning in the Volare pack is enough to convince me of just why Ayr needs this alliance so badly. It’s a shithole. And that’s putting it nicely. There are families here that would kill to spend four years locked in the packhouse cliffs.

Leaving my homeland for the first time, everything is brand new to my eyes.

A few miles from the bridge, we stumbled into the first major town. Away from the crash of the white foaming river, I had expected to see something Alpha Ayr could be proud of.

There is only mud, repair, and the scent of an extinguished bonfire filling the air. It’s wooden and basic. One black flag flies high from a barn-like building, presumably the packhouse,
