I ran my tongue over my top row of teeth — more precisely, my gums. They felt different. There was a little bump above my canines which flattened whenever my fangs snapped out.

It was all still so surreal to me. I felt alone in my head for once, no beast yipping and pining for Julian. All the pining was purely coming from me this time around and I may not have been sharing my mind with a beast within me anymore, but it did feel as if my mind had grown. It was somehow larger, so large that it allowed me to concentrate on many things at once.
