Declan called out to his daughter as soon as the line got connected. She was glad to receive her father's call but could also tell that something was amiss when she heard his suppressed voice over the phone.

After exchanging brief pleasantries, he quickly cut to the chase,

“I cannot reach Selene on the phone.

Do you have any idea why?”

He sounded calm and collected, but Chloe knew it was just the calm before the storm. She knew the two had already broken up, so, she couldn’t understand why he would complain of being unable to reach her.

“Dad, I thought you two already broke up.

Why do you want to reach out to Selene?”
