Chapter 1. Brought to the city.

In the evening, at the front gate of Madam Alora's Brothel House. In the heart of the city, Janet and Lara stood outside the gate. They had just arrived from the village. Janet Brown urged Lara Almond to enter the gate with her, but Lara refused. Janet and Lara were both 20 years old. They had come from a rural village. Lara had admired Janet's classic lifestyle and had begged to follow Janet to the city, despite knowing Janet's parents were also poor.

That night, Lara wore a brown dress, clutching her box of clothes, while Janet wore a seductive blue dress paired with black shoes and urged Lara to "Come on, in."

Lara refused, saying, "No Janet. I cannot go inside there with you, Is this not a hotel?"

Janet frowned, "No Lara! I can't keep standing out here with you. If you don't want to go inside, it's okay, but you can continue to stand out here alone. I have a lot of work to do inside and my madam has been calling me, since morning."

Lara frowned as she was a light-skinned beauty, very attractive, and she wasn't foolish not to know where Janet brought her. She knew Janet's parents were poor, now she blamed herself for following Janet to the city.

Lara replied, "No Janet! I need to go back home to the village. I cannot go in there with you."

Madam Alora, the owner of the Brothel house stepped out. She saw Janet standing outside and remembered that Janet had taken permission from her to travel to her village and bring her best friend to the city. Also, Janet had promised her that her best friend was beautiful.

It was 6 PM, soon most of the patrons would soon be arriving. Madam Alora had just four ladies working for her, she didn't accept older women, they proved too stubborn for her to handle. Also, she had mostly young men coming into her brothel to patronize her women. She walked out to the gate, dressed in a black short dress and asked Janet, "What's going on there, Janet?"

"Good evening, MA. It's my friend, Lara. She doesn't want to come inside, and we have been standing here since we arrived."

Madam Alora frowned, "It's okay, you go inside. " She shifted her gaze to look at Lara. Her eyes nearby fell out seeing how beautiful Lara looked.

"Good evening, ma." Lara greeted, clutching to her black box. "Yes, welcome. my dear. Why are you standing out here by the gate? Come on, inside."

"No, ma. Is this not a hotel?"

Madam Alora frowned, forced a fake smile and replied, "No, my dear. What do you know as a hotel? Have you been to one before?"

"No, ma, but..." Lara peeped inside the gate and saw some young girls dressed in almost exposed clothing. She gulped, shook her head, and plead, "Please, MA. Can you help me to call Janet? I need to go back home to my village. I cannot go in there."

Madam Alora's frowned as Lara began to cry.

Madam Alora has been getting calls from rich men requesting for beautiful young women to warm their beds. She saw how cute Lara looked, contemplated how much Lara would help her to fetch. She asked Lara, "Do you have your transportation to go back to your village?"

"No, Ma," Lara slowly sniffed as she stared up at Madam Alora's face. "Then you will have to work for your transportation. Are you going to enter or not? Mind you, this is not a hotel. I gave Janet the money to travel to your village and bring you here. And now you want to go back to your village. How ungrateful of you to come and insult me first, without even saying thank you, ma."

"I am sorry, Ma," Lara held her traveling bag and apologized. Madam Alora replied, "Just keep your sorry to yourself and come inside now, before I ask my guards to lock my gate."

Lara stood speechless for a while, not knowing what to do. She finally pushed the gate open and walked in. She could hear the faint sound of music coming out from the beautiful mansion as she tagged along with Madam Alora. They walked into the beautiful living room. Madam Alora called, "Janet!"

"Yes Madam," Janet replied. Madam Alora said, "Show your friend to her room and prepare her."

"No," Lara refused.

"What do you mean by no? Aren't you going back to the village? Look, I don't have time to waste on you. Better be quick to move with Janet, otherwise I will call my guards now to throw you out this minute."

Lara gulped and stared at the rest of the young ladies standing in the living room. That was decorated with a golden chandelier, golden seats, and golden curtains. Janet spoke to her, "Come, Lara, let's go." Lara hesitated and finally followed Janet, knowing the beautiful woman wasn't joking about throwing her out.

They walked into a room painted pink. Janet kindly took Lara's tattered traveling bag and spoke to her, "Lara, I know you're still finding it easy to believe this is what I do here in the city, but it's not prostitution." Lara responded, "Liar! You're lying to me. You should've told me before now. I told you I don't want to sleep with any man for money. I don't want to lose my virginity until I'm married."

"Hmph. I'm sorry, Lara, but what's the point of you keeping it? You, your sister, brother, and mother could barely feed, as your father is old, and your mother knew this before she ran to him and married him, knowing he has a family. Did she think about her virginity or any of you she brought into this world?"

Lara yelled, "Shut up Janet! Don't you dare insult my mother!" Janet responded, "I'm not Lara. I'm being honest with you. I'm using the latest iPhone, I have a car and do you think I have all that by keeping my virginity?"

"Just shut up, Janet! If you had told me before that it was prostitution. Then I wouldn't be here. Now your madam said I have to work for my transportation. How will I work for it? If it's with my Vee-J, I cannot sleep with a man for money. Can you lend me some money, so I can go back to the village tonight?"

"No, Lara, you're not going anywhere. I wish I could lend you, but you see, any money I get from my going out, my madam takes 70% and gives me only 30%. And it is not enough for me to take care of myself, let alone give to you."

"You should've told me Janet. Why?" Lara began to sob. Janet apologized, "I'm sorry, Lara. Let's hurry up and bathe, before 8 pm. So, we can eat and have some time to prepare before we leave."

"Leave me alone. I'm not going anywhere with you, you wicked person."

Janet smiled and walked past Lara into her bathroom to take her bath. As the room was hers and since Lara was new, Madam Alora hadn't given Lara a room of her own in the executive mansion. Lara continued to sob. A few minutes later, Janet stepped out, tying a white towel and told Lara, "It's your turn now. Go and bathe."

"Leave me alone. I'm not going anywhere with you." Lara cried. Janet yelled, "What has come over you, Lara?! If you don't hurry up, then be ready to leave, as my madam is a little hot-tempered."

Lara sniffed and not having any other choices, she walked towards the bathroom and stopped. She asked Janet, "Where is the towel I will use?" Janet responded, "There are still about five neat towels in there. I hardly use them. Although we have dry-cleaners that wash our clothes, so I'm sure they're still neat."

Lara stomped her foot on the ground and angrily walked into the bathroom. The bathroom was neat, beautiful, compared to the local outdoor bathroom she used in the village. Lara knew her family were poor, since her mother married someone husband. They could barely feed in the village, as her mother later sold fruits, in the village square.

Lara had a young brother, Amos, his was fair like her. Her sister, Esther looked like their father, with dark skin. Lara resembles her mother, but vowed not to sleep with any man until she got married.
