Victor was very surprised to hear Gavin's confession. He knew that 12 years ago Gavin had adopted two young children he had rescued from human trafficking and Gavin had told him about it.

At the time he wasn't sure whether Gavin would be able to look after two children while he was single and had no wife to help him. However, seeing how earnest Gavin was at the time made him think that Gavin might actually be serious about his intentions.
