I wake up to an insistent knock on my door, and the light coming in from the windows in the room nearly blinds me.

“Selena, good morning! It’s time to leave now.” It isn't a question. I open the bedroom door looking like a zombie because of my scrunched-up face.

“Good morning, ma crushed face.” Sophia laughs in my face. She is beautiful; all made up this time of morning...Wait, what time is it?

“It's nine-thirty. Let's enjoy the day since you're here,” she suggests while I rub my eyes.

“Ok, can I get ready or would you prefer that I go like this?” I ask, teasing.

“I'll wait for you downstairs. Show me your tongue,” she insists.

“If I open my mouth more than this, you’re gonna run away. Now give me fifteen minutes, will you?” I raise my eyebrows in warning her before shutting the door.
