89. Conspiracy

...Hunter POV...

As I entered Sienna's cell, I wasn't sure what to expect. I knew it wouldn't be good. She had starved herself for over a week. But as if that wasn't enough, I had my men rough her up. I had prepared myself for the worst, yet I still felt underprepared when I saw her.

She resembled a corpse. No. A corpse had more life in them compared to how she looked. She was quite literally skin and bones. Her body was littered with blood and bruises. Her malnutrition made her injuries appear worse, as she didn't have the energy to help herself heal. It nearly brought a tear to my eye, seeing my precious Mariposa destroyed like this.

She barely even registered my presence. It was as if she had already died. I think part of me knew that was a semblance of the truth. She was no longer the determined and strong-willed girl I had once known. My men had torn her apart piece by piece, leaving the ghost of the girl she once was.
