Chapter 45

Neaera-

Fire blazed all around me, although I didn’t know where I was. It was hard to see anything through the flames and the smoke. I could hear screams coming from every direction I turned.

I kept looking for a way to get past the flames, but there weren’t any openings. Reaching my hand out, I reached out to the fire, yet it wasn’t hot. I could feel the heat against my skin, but it didn’t burn.

“What is going on?” I asked aloud, not expecting anyone to answer.

“We are within your dreams.” A familiar voice said, but I couldn’t place where I had heard the voice.

“What is this dream?” I asked, now feeling silly that I was talking to myself, and yet I wasn’t at the same time.

“This is your future.” The voice spoke again, sounding as if it was fading away.

“Please tell me more.” I begged, not wanting to be left alone.

The voice didn’t answer me again, so I took a step back and twirled around, hoping to see who I had been talking to. I didn’t see anything, except the flames that danced ar
