The private detective summarized, "But if they're following you here, it's unlikely for robbery or assault. This auction is not a good time for such activities."

"I think so too."

Melanie nodded in agreement, "I don't know who's behind them yet. For now, let's not startle the snake. Just keep an eye on their movements."

"But Ms. Melanie, their seats are right next to yours. Aren't you afraid that-"

"I'm not."

Melanie was confident, "The person directing them wants to witness my embarrassment firsthand. So, they won't take drastic actions during the auction. When I take off my hat as a signal, that's your cue to act."

"Understood."

The private detective agreed, then turned and left, swiftly blending into the crowd who were looking for their seats.

Melanie settled into her seat, and soon, the two men who had been following her took seats nearby.
