Everyone was startled by the coldness in Ava’s voice and their backs stiffened. But it was only for a split second before they came back to their senses.

Martha looked at her and sneered, “Nothing. We just turned it into a trash room.”

Ava’s face darkened as the coldness in her voice intensified, “And why would you do that?”

“The West family only has one daughter, and that is June. Why would we spare a room for a wild dog that did not belong to our family? My daughter did not like your room, and since we could not uproot it from the house, we had to find some use for it.” Martha said domineeringly.
