Chapter 40.

Alexis was sleeping on the sofa when Elena woke her up from sleep. She mumbled words to herself and laid back to the sofa, until Jared's voice sprang out in a shrill.

" Get up from there! " He sneered. The vibration in his voice jerked Alexis out of sleep.

"Honey, take it easy, " Elena protested, widening her eyes at him. She was not understanding the reason for his bitterness.

Alexis woke up. She glared at Jared for a certain time.

" Your Dad wants to talk to you " Elena informed.

Jared was steadily becoming irritated. Especially since Alexis was expelled from law school. After her plans of becoming Jason's wife failed, she lazily stayed at home without any job. Most days, she either visits her friends or stays at home sleeping all day.

This vexed Jared a lot because she was just there mooching off his hard-earned money.

Alexis squeezed her face and sat up to sit down. " What is it, dad?" She asked with a frail voice.

Elena joined her and sat down with her on the couch.
