CHAPTER EIGHTEEN: I Will Come Running

I woke up with the space beside me empty. I rubbed my eyes with the back of my hands. I yawned and got up from bed. I went to the kitchen but no one was there.

“Grip?” I called but no one answered.

Maybe he went out. I head to the door and went out of his unit. I was frozen to my spot as everyone in the huge hallway turned in my direction. They were all wearing black cloaks and holding a scythe.

They are not students. I are not in our dorm!

“D*mn, Serra!” Grip wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me inside.

I stared at him blankly. It took me time to process what the hell was going on.

“Where are we?” At last, I was able to untangle my tongue.

“Reaper’s den.” He pulled me with him to the kitchen. He pulled a chair for me to sit.

“Is it alright to bring me here? Won’t they reap me? Won’t they report you to the heavens?” I nervously asked.

“If it’s prohibited then I shouldn’t have brought you here,” he said while making two cups of coffee. “They won’t reap you unless it’s
