Chapter Nineteen

I was busy with my tie when a knock on the door interrupted my thought process. Our lawyer had given the go-ahead to sign the contract in the morning and I felt pleased that at least one thing had gone according to plan this weekend. I opened the door and Colin stood there.

"Can I come in and talk to you?" he asked me.

"Sure. Drink?" I asked him and he nodded.

He followed me into the living room and stood in front of the big window looking out over the city. It was a pleasant view although I preferred to be back in Aurora where I could see the woods from every window in my house and experience the quiet of where I lived.

"Lucas, I'm just going to be very straight forward with you," Colin said as he took the glass from me.

"I expect nothing else," I said to him and sat down across from where he stood.
