"What did you say?"

"I said what you heard, Alpha. Don't expect anything from me. We can't deny that we're bonded, that this mark and our destiny unite us. But that doesn't mean you love me, or I love you. Got it!"

"Don't try to put words in my mouth, Ana. Speak for yourself. Now I don't have time to argue with you; I need to sort some things out."

"I'll take that as a yes, that you understood what I tried to tell you. I won't take any more of your time." I tried to get up, but my legs failed, and I almost touched the floor. Strong hands caught my waist.

"You're not well. Rest a bit more," I hesitated as touching her naked skin stimulated my senses. It would be better to try to run away, or I'd make more mistakes. "We'll see each other later." My defenses were weak around her.

"I won't sleep here tonight, Alpha. I need to see how my friend Clara is doing."

I nodded before leaving. This wasn't going to be my day.
