I almost choked at his question.

“Of course!” I exclaimed. “Is that even a question? Why did you even mark me in the first place if it wasn’t for forever?”

“I feel your hesitation, Corrine.”

As for this statement, I wasn’t expecting it at all. I should have denied it outright, saying that not for a second did I doubt my decision to leave my family and go with him.

My family were the people I trusted the most in this world. They always supported me, stood behind me, and protected me. They were my shelter, my home.
