Chapter 15

Lily

Wesley and I ride in silence, and when we finally arrive at the office, I have to force myself out of the car. It feels like my legs are made out of lead as I try to steer them forward. My whole body is protesting, and I suspect it’s because I know that I won’t be able to survive through the day unscathed. A huge part of me wants to call in sick, but I know I can’t do that.

Wesley walks toward the elevator, tall, handsome, and undoubtedly ready for the morning meeting. I follow him with my heart racing in my chest.

We enter a large room on the highest floor. It’s filled with people already, and they all grow silent when their eyes land on Wesley, their CEO and Alpha. It seems everyone is a pack member inside this room.

I take my seat and try to focus on the meeting, but my eyes keep trailing over to Wesley. I can feel the heat emanating from him, and it sends a shiver down my spine.

He is so commanding and powerful. I can’t tear my eyes away.
