CHAPTER SIX

“Look Dylan! Aunty Sue is here, she brought us cakes and chocolates! Melissa shouted from the doorway with a bag full of chocolates, I stood up from the couch and walked to the door, true to her words, aunty Sue was in her car, she was still inside so I walked past Melissa all the way to the drive way

Aunty, you came? I said as I walked to her car and she smiled

Yes of course Dylan, dont be stupid, here come help me carry this she said and I walked to where she was, when I saw her, my mind traveled towards my late mom, Aunty Sue  was a replica of my mom, everything in her reminded me of my mom and I found myself hugging her

Oh my God Dylan, I am so sorry for your loss, Kayla was my elder sister and I loved her so much, I was saddened by the news and honestly speaking I dont know why she would stop going for chemo therapies, I was always ready to help her but she was stone she wouldnt listen to me and now she is gone, too early for your younger sisters so you and I are going to take care of them no matter what, come here stop crying and be strong for your younger siblings

it is okay aunty I should start getting used to it, my sisters are looking up to me I said as she released from her hug ad she parted  on my shoulders

Exactly what I wanted to hear from you, you are a strong man now, but I was thinking about you and your siblings moving with me to England that way we can stay with you and I will pay for your school fees and everything, from there I can take good care of you because you will be around me, but from here it is going to be hard for us to communicate plus I promised my sister that I would take good care of you once she is gone, I will be partly fulfilling her last wishes plus again I dont have kids and I have been wanting to have kids of my own and my sisters kids are like mine too, Dylan you and your sisters are like the only family I was left with, your mother was my only sister and probably the only sibling I was left with, so staying with you will be the only thing that could be sane, you remind me of my sister she said and I nodded in agreement, she actually had a point but still I had to tell her about the letter mom left, maybe she could help me locate my fathers home

Of course aunty Sue, I actually have something to show you, mom left something that I think you should know I said as I helped her carry the shopping to the house Melissa and Alicia were seated on the couch watching cartoons as they munched on the chocolates, Dan was not in the living room and so was Ivanna

And where is Dan? He was right here when I left to go see aunty outside I asked Melissa and Alicia but they only brushed their shoulders, I walked straight to the kitchen to put the shopping and Dan was there making tea

Man, I thought you had left already, here come help m put this in the cabinet and you should say hi to Aunty Sue, she is the living room I said as I placed the shopping bags on the kitchen counter

Yeah I figured out you guys needed to take something, you havent eaten since yesterday, let me go say hi to her then I will be back in a jiffy he said and walked out of the kitchen and I was left alone, I resumed arranging the foodstuffs aunty left, it was food enough to last for a week and I wondered why she would do all that shopping

I think Aunty Sue wants to talk to you about something, she is asking for you upstairs Dan said immediately he came back and I nodded in agreement, I washed my hands and headed towards moms room, she was sitting on the couch when I walked in

So Dylan, what is it that you wanted to tell me that was so important, and by the way you should start packing already, we will lay Kayla at rest early tomorrow then I booked an afternoon flight for all of us, I hope you are okay with that? she asked and I nodded but the  remembered something

Is that even possible aunty? I dont think we can travel we dont have passports I said and she just smiled

Oh dont worry about that, your mom was a genius, she always thought ahead of everyone anyway before she died she had talked to me about you guys moving to England and staying with me, she had your passports ready about two weeks before her health deteriorated, so dont worry about hat, it is already sorted out she said with a smile and I inhaled deeply, how many things did mom do before her death then? Because to me it seems like she knew she was going to die and therefore planned everything before she died

And did she also tell you about the letter she left me? Because to me it seems like she knew she was going to die and therefore told you everything at hand, I am sure she would have told you about this too? I asked as I walked to the drawer and retrieved the letter that she had left for me

Not really what letter? she asked and I handed her the letter, she read through the letter and shook her head.

What is it? Did you know about this too aunty and you never bothered to tell me, I am old enough to handle this issued I am not young like Melissa and Alicia, I am old enough to handle any kind of news aunty and the way I have trusted you, you cant also hide that from me just like mom did! I half shouted ad she inhaled sharply and then asked me to sit down beside her

Dylan, I know this might come as a surprise to you but I swear to you, I asked Kayla to tell you the truth but she always said she was afraid that it would hurt you, all the pain our have been going through because of your step father whom all along you knew him as your father, it was hard to break the news to you and it was not my story to tell, she was your mom and the bearer of the news she had every right to withhold the news and I had no right to tell you, I honestly watched you grow but I couldnt tell you because it was your mothers  responsibility to tell you so forgive me if there is anything I did wrong but honestly speaking I wished I would tell you but I just couldnt, your mom will be so mad at me and I cant stand her being at me, but thank God she told you she said and I just nodded, she was in no position to tell me the truth it was moms responsibility to tell us the truth

I know, I understand aunty, I just thought that maybe you could have told me, I would have at least known why our father hated our guts but it is now clear to me but at least now I know, the only problem is how I will tell my sisters about it, it will break them I said and she cleared my throat

You dont have to tell them anything right now, I will help you tell them when the time is right, they just cant understand anything right now because they are way too young to understand that, the only thing you should tell them is to pack their clothes, they always wanted to go to England I bet they will be happy about that she said and I nodded, Melissa was always dreaming of going to England to stay with aunty Sue, I knew they would be overexcited about it

Yeah you are right aunty and by the way can I ask you something that is if you dont mind?

Of course you can, go ahead, what is it?

Have you ever see my dad I mean my real dad like face to face, how as he like, was he a good man and how was he relating with people around  him? I asked and she smiled the cleared her throat

Honestly speaking I never had a chance to meet your real father, your mom only showed me his pictures and I only saw him when he was dead, the time your mom came for his burial but from the way your mom always described him, he was a good man, very respectable and just like you, you both have something in common, very intelligent she said and I smiled
