Emily's Pov:
I organised all the fresh ingredients in the fridge, throwing away all the rotten and expired food products into the dustbin.
Stirring the glass of lemon water after adding a bit of salt, I drank it in one shot, cold water soothing my frustrated nerves and relaxing my body.
It had been three weeks already and I didn't receive anything satisfying from Cyber security and surveillance department, regarding the precise location of Mia or her whereabouts.
I heard shuffling of things, heavy footsteps on stairs resonated the ambient and I abruptly turned towards the kitchen counter, busying myself in wiping off the wet dishes.
My heart twisted painfully in my chest, remembering those three words which I had always wanted to hear from Edward my whole life, and which he indeed said to me but this time, those beautiful words weren't f
Emily's POV:I splashed some cold water over my face, cleaning each and every corner of my face.Dark circles under my eyes were still visible, and I was worried if my mom saw me in freaking ugly condition like this, with my hairs sticking like a birdnest from my bun and my face looking like a distorted mushroom after all those sleepless depressing nights, then she would certainly throw a huge fit over it.Mom was waiting in the drawing room after I excused myself to go to washroom and let Miranda open the door for her.Quickly applying some foundation and cream under my eyes, which I stored in my makeup-kit for emergency makeup required often in conditions like these, I tied my hairs in a high ponytail and rushed downstairs to meet my mom.She looked so innocent and heartwarming, sitting on the sofa and waiting for me impatiently. I smiled g
Emily's POV:I looked at her, my face forming a surprised expression at her sudden, very unexpected question. "Yes Mom. I am! How many times will you confirm it-""But it's the first time I asked you this question though."I sighed loudly, placing the cutlet piece back on the plate. "Mom. Look at me and tell me! Do you really think I am not happy with this marriage!?""Emily, I am your mother and I know very well when my daughter is hurting.""Mom, it's a futile argument. Really! And you know already how much I love Edward and how much this marriage means to me!?""Right? Isn't it the problem, Emily? That this marriage means so much to you when it isn't the same for Edward?"I placed my hands on her shoulders. "Trust me Mom. He's very much happy with this marriage and he's the one who proposed me-""What'
Emily's POV:I sat on the side of the bed, leaning my head against it, my eyes filled with tears and my heart beating wildly at the thought of not being able to see Edward again.I didn't even get the chance to run my hands along his face for the last time, to remember each and every corner of it, to memorize his smile for as long as I live in this world.I wonder what Edward would say once he finds I am not there? He would definitely go ballistic after learning that it was all my fault that my mom found the divorce papers!?Would he go search for me? No, he would probably be very angry at me, he wouldn't even call me after my huge clumsy mistake! After all, I am the reason our fake marriage got discovered in such an unexpected circumstances!Edward would never forgive me for that!
Emily's POV:I shuffled in my blanket, tossing and turning over it, putting my arms around my body to gain some warmth.Heavy rain was pouring outside, loud claps of thunder reverberated the ambient and cold wet breeze was coming from the open window of my bedroom, decreasing the temperature of the room.I stood up from the floor, wrapping the blanket tightly around my body and walked towards the window. Extending my one hand outside, I let cold water fall down my arms and I closed my eyes, inhaling the muddy aroma of the wet soil, clutching the blanket from my other hand.Faint yellow light penetrated through the heavy rain just as I saw shining grey car stopping abruptly in front of my house. I narrowed my eyes, trying to recognise the model of the car and my eyes widened in awe.I quickly shut the door of the window tight, rea
Emily's POV:It had been almost four weeks since my inevitable fight with Edward. We didn't talk to each other or to be precise, I didn't talk to him. He frequently called me and send me texts to check on me and I knew it was really a long time we gone without talking or seeing each other in our long history of friendship, so it must be hard for him to ignore me or my presence after I had behaved so rudely with him.Supporting a marriage, and the wrong one at that, was really troublesome and painful experience for me but I learnt a lot in the way.I put my every efforts to support my first marriage which ended so horribly and in the meanest way as possible.I still had to sign the divorce papers and in these few weeks, my mom had already pestered me enough to sign them already but I always came up with convincing excuses to run away from it.
Emily's POV:My phone almost fell off my hand, hearing such words from Mia while Rose just scooted more closer to the phone, ready to hear more from Mia.Hesitating, I adjusted the phone in my hand. "Are you sure that you're pregnant?""Yes. I am. I checked it in a pregnancy kit-""Mia, those results can be wrong as well-""I got full checkup from the hospital, Emily. They told me I am one month pregnant, and they also asked me to come for regular appointments for better care and development of a baby."My mouth opened in awe. "When did all of this happen!?""Go easy." Rose whispered to me."I was caught off guard when Jake initated-" Mia started but I cut her off."He initiated all this!? What did that excuse of a burned potato did to you!?"
Emily's POV:Silence stretched between us for long minutes as Mia took her time in contemplating her decision. "I don't know what to do, Emily. I am in a strange dilemma."I glanced at Rose who merely threw me an annoying and impassive look making me roll my eyes at her."Are you sure you can handle the pregnancy? Will you keep the baby then?""I wouldn't ask that question if I were you." Rose said, raising one eyebrow at me."Unfortunately, I don't intend to behave as myself today." I said to Rose, who ignored my words like a fly sitting on her cupcake, making me turn my attention back to Mia again. "So? Did you think about it?""What do you think I should do?" Mia asked me."I think-"Rose snatched phone from my hands and put it over her ears. "I advice you to let me take over t
Emily's POV:Hesitantly, she lifted her right hand and brought it closer to my hand but stopped in between, leaving a space of just an inch between our hands. I looked at her but she avoided my gaze and just as I was about to ask her why she stopped in mid, she put her hand on mine, and squeezed it gently. "I promise." She smiled weakly at me and I covered my hand with hers, my heart feeling giddy at this older yet strangely new bond formed between us."So can I ask you anything now?"Rose hesitated and looked down but then she lifted her face, strange determination lining her strict features. "Sure. Go ahead. Ask me anything."I took a deep breath, preparing myself to ask her all sorts of questions which had been itching my intestines for answers since the day Rose came back. "What type of job do you do?"Rose tilted her head, raising her eyebrow. "That's it?
