Chapter 14: The Accusation

I harshly pushed her away.

“That’s cringy,” she pushed me harder.

“Just kidding! Do you think I’d do that? Duh, over my dead body!” I rolled my eyes and bit my inner cheek to hold my smile.

“You should sleep now before you can think of anything operatic again,” I said and left her. I turned my back to the door when she called my name.

“Zill…” I stopped but did not bother to turn. “Are you happy now?”

“Yeah,”

“I see, I can finally sleep at ease. I have been waiting for this, that you finally find what makes you truly happy. It has been decades since we left the coven searching for this.”

“Thank you,” what she said was true. I left the coven to find freedom, happiness, and contentment. She came with me because she was raised to serve me and serving me was what she thought was the purpose of her life. I hate to think that she wanted to serve me all her life. I wanted her to have a life too.
