Chapter 8: My Helpless Friend

The always solemn and majestic white mansion suddenly turned into a wild and loud place in just one night.

There were people partying everywhere. The loud sound of music almost burst my eardrums preventing me to eavesdrop from the surrounding people. The flash of neon lights blurry my sights. In the sea of intoxicated people in the living room, it was hard to recognize which one who's who.

Currently, I was being dragged by Lila towards the living room where people with high hormones dancing without a care.

"What's the point of coming here but you won't dance? Come! Dance with me!" Lila's strength was not something to laugh at. She can't beat a whole grown man without giving the other party a chance to fight back.

As someone who was not sporty, I don't stand a chance. I could only hug her arm as I forced my feet took root in the ground.

"No-! I don't want to!"

"Then why the hell did you come here for?!"

"Just stay with me~" I acted pitifully which was working well since Lila stopped dragging me. But her glassy eyes had a hint of exasperation.

"I accompanied you for an hour already. I also need to party."

I  know I am being unreasonable for keeping Layla here. She already consider my feelings enough and chose to stay here in the corner for an hour. But I can't let her go. Because that bastard is not here yet!

I looked at the entrance. That man's shadow did not appear.

Yesterday, after Layla told me the shocking news of wreaking havoc in her father's mansion, I immediately told Kane about it.

I even repeated to him this morning that he needs to come. This party was a good opportunity to approach Layla.

Although the six of us were leaving under one roof, the Golden mansion was so big that sometimes we don't even run to each other.

Layla was not a homebody like me. She was always out with her fake friends in the morning and partying at night.  Kane would sometimes show up early morning but then Layla was still asleep. And when he came home in the afternoon the other was still hanging outside.

Yesterday's event was rare where we gathered because of the new guy. But afterward, we would continue living our different lives.

If Kane wanted Layla to see her as a man, then he needs to approach her from another angle. Using this party as an opportunity to strike up a conversation and be close to her.

Where else can you flirt openly if not at a wild party such as this?

Hormones were keep blasting up! A single action could light a fire.

This was a chance for Kane to step out from where he was hiding and be provocative towards Layla!

I gritted my teeth. I won't let go of Layla until Kane showed up!

Layla sighed. She finally relented and continued to stay with me in the corner. "It is rare for you to act so clingily. So I'll give you another thirty minutes. I don't know what you are planning, but today I would party with all my heart."

"Yeah sure." I inwardly sighed in relief. After another thirty minutes, I don't think I could hold on to this stubborn woman.

Layla accompanied me to this inconspicuous corner where no one would spare a glance for another thirty minutes. She and I would gossip about the teenagers dancing wildly on the dance floor to kill time.

"Hey, that is Vinson, right? I thought he is drinking in sorrow and cooped in his room because of loneliness? He doesn't look lonely though?" Layla's eyebrow was raised.

I looked in the direction she was pointing out. There was a tall guy dancing with a hot girl while tracing her curves. He doesn't look like someone who had broken up with her girlfriend.

I tsked. "No wonder Gabrielle played on him." The guy might have an innocent and kind look but he was definitely a player inside. The one who hides too deep.

Layla tsked too. "It's my brother who is always swayed by meek appearance. He thought just because a guy helped a girl once, he is a gentleman."

I nodded. Levi was the type of person who only saw 'good' in people. He always sees everyone on their good side. But often sometimes, having a naive thought that everyone was kind and good would bring a calamity to him.

People have two sides with them. The front was what they want others to see, while the other was what they want to hide.

Levi this poor naive guy doesn't even realize the reason why his girlfriends broke up with him even though he seemed like the perfect guy.

I looked away and leave the matter behind. For me, Levi and Gabrielle's matter was something I don't want to meddle with.

The only thing I care for now was this best friend of mine. Who recently keep ruining herself by associating with the wrong people.

"Oh? Josh came." Layla's eyes lit up with a mischievous glint. Seeing her look, I had a bad premonition.

I looked at the guy she was referring to. A tall and a bit muscular guy. A type of bad guy who attracted girls with bad taste. His arrival made the nearby girls want to hook up with him. But despite the girls coming to him, Josh only give them a lewd smile and kept looking around. With one glance, I could tell from his action that this guy was here for Layla.

"What's your business with him?" I asked.

"He came here wishing he could fuck me. But I will fucked him up first. Let's see if he still gets  a boner." Layla said with a wicked smile.

My heart beat fast with anxiousness. I knew it!

This girl wanted to screw another guy!

"Hey. Don't do it. That guy is physically fit. He might fight back."

"So? I am strong enough. I can take him on."

"You...." I was lost for words.

How many times we have had this kind of conversation? Every time Layla wanted to beat up someone, I would stop her. But her stubbornness and strength were so strong that I could only let her go and wait for her to finish her matter and made sure to drive her back in one piece.

In the end, she always returned with a triumphant smile. Well, she was a black belter so that made me ease a bit.

Still...What if an accident happened and she met her match?

The guy did not notice this corner since the blinding lights were all in the center while the corner was dark and full of people doing something I don't want to describe.

"Where did you even meet a guy like him? He doesn't look like a university student." I asked after losing in persuading her.

"He is a motorcycle racer. I met him in a racer club."

Racer club....A dangerous club for teenagers. A place where one could be easily swayed into some dirty business.

My lips twitched. This is the first time I am hearing this from Layla.

"Your fake friends Becky and Nina introduced you to that club, no?" I asked with a hint of disgust. The disgust was not for the cub but for the two names that I have spoken.

Layla looked at me surprised. "How do you know? I did not tell you about the club because I know you would come and drag me back."

I stared at her like she was stupid.

I might be a loyal friend but I won't go to the illegal club filled with scary people alone to drag her back unless I wanted to die. I still know where my strength is at. At most, I would call Levi to fetch Layla from that club or call a policeman and say that there were underage teenagers hanging out in the club and having illegal activities.

Layla shrugged her shoulder seeing my stare. "You have done that when I went to an illegal casino once."

"..."

Right, that was a traumatic experience. Because I have no sense of danger at that time, I just barged in and look for Layla to take her home. But I was stopped by two muscular guys. They almost threw me away to someplace far away after knowing my intention. I was really frightened at that time. After that, I smarted up. I know what to do in that kind of situation now.

Don't meet it heads up. As a weak chicken, I have to strategize.

I coughed and went back to the topic.

"Only those two could know so many bad places and bring you there. You clearly know their intention to sway you on the wrong path, why are you still hanging with them?"

"Becky and Nina? Well, it's fun to see them struggling to kiss up my ass just to scheme at me. But aren't I fine after they brainstormed to drag me down? It's nice to see their faces distorted sometimes."

I can't believe her. She was playing with fire. I can't help but warn her.

"Be careful or else those two would do something more inhumane next time."

"What those two with inferiority complex could do? I know them already and I am confident to keep them at my side. It's better to keep your enemies close, you know?"

"...." I have nothing to say. I don't have enemies so I can't relate.

Layla suddenly stood up. "Anyway your thirty minutes is up. It's time to welcome my guest." She then winked and left.

I could only sigh in frustration watching her approaching the lewd man.

I was like a parent with a broken heart as I watched my child go on the wrong path.

I looked at the entrance with a disappointed gaze. If Kane was here, he could steal Lila away, away from those dangerous and bad men.
