Chapter 96

I gasped in fear and my hand instinctly covered my mouth in shock when I recognized the men who kidnapped my daughter. Tears pooled out of my eyes as I saw how they harshly handled her and at how frightened Charlie was.

Jerome carried her like she was nothing all I could see in my daughter’s face was fear. Fear for her life.

I still remember their names, Jerome and Braden. How could I forget the name of the person whom I had nightmares of trying to catch me in the dark, taunting me, trying to kill me.

I knew what it felt to to feel small, to feel helpless in front of a dangerous person that you don’t know. It isn’t them that makes you feel scared, but the uncertainty of what they might do to you and what can happen to you and the people that you love.

Charlie is just four years old, she needs me. She can’t be alone feeling all that.
