Chapter 1 The awakening

I still remember the day they were born, their first cry, their first look, the first time I touched their little hands when Máximo and I had to make the most crucial decision of our lives, to cast a spell with our blood to hide their powers.

When Silvana and I thought of that spell, it saved them from having a normal life. If that exists, still, deep down, I knew that it would only be a matter of time before reality would hit us hard when we least expected it.

For 4 years, everything was perfect, but that dream I once had was still haunting me.

FLASHBACK TO THE DREAM 6 YEARS AGO

I had been walking for days in a forest and found nothing around me; I was completely alone, in the distance I saw two little girls no more than 4 years old, playing they were gorgeous, they were running chasing each other, they were near a lake that looked like Lake Chenek, which I recognized immediately.

I walked towards them and smiled when they turned to look at me, "Hello, little ones, my name is Hannia," I said, smiling at them.

They both stopped and looked at me with a smile on their face; I couldn't believe it they were twins they had their blond hair almost platinum-like mine, their beautiful blue eyes almost gray, like the water of the lake, I felt something strange in my heart the need to hug them as if they were mine.

I approached them and knelt. One ran into my arms, hugging me tightly, touching my hair, and with her finger, she traced the line of my nose, "You are gorgeous; I can't wait to meet you soon," she said, smiling at me.

"What's your name?" I asked her.

She put her little finger on her lips. She said, "shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, you can't know yet, she's going to get mad at me, "she said, looking at her little sister; I got kind of serious looking at her, and my eyes went to the other girl walking towards me.

The first girl who hugged me moved away from me towards the lake and started walking towards the water; I looked at her and was about to get up to stop her. Still, the other girl was in front of me, with her tiny hands on both of my cheeks, trying to have my attention ultimately, that I would only see her.

"Here I am," she said, smiling at me, but I was trying to look away and see the other girl. I didn't want anything to happen to her.

"Stop looking at her; you have me," she said, smiling at me.

"She might choke; let me see her; I don't want anything to happen to her," I said and took her tiny hands to get up, but her face changed, and her blue eyes became black; I was overcome with a fear that I could not describe, my heartfelt agony for her, for this little girl.

"You will have to choose her or me, but no matter what your heart decides, I will always have darkness on my side, and she will have no one, there can't be two, only one can live."  He said with a smile and took a few steps back.

"You will have to take her away from me if you want her to live, both of us alive, but separated or together and with death hovering around us until finally, she dies, you will have to make a decision or her or me, you will know who I am when you see the mark of the moon on me," she said looking at me, I didn't understand her words, how could I decide between the lives of two such beautiful and innocent girls.

She smiled at me and raised her hand, pointing to the lake; the other girl was drowning, "you won't always be able to save her," she said with a wicked smile and started laughing, while I ran to the lake to save her.

I swam as fast as I could, but she was gone, I couldn't see her anywhere, I dived in and nothing; I came back to the surface and looked everywhere, crying, screaming for her, until I opened my eyes and stood up, with my breathing agitated.

 THE FLASHBACK ENDS

Time passed, and hope grew in me when my little princesses turned 11 years old, which that dream had not yet manifested, I thought we would finally be happy, and they would live a whole life, but that did not happen, on the contrary, That; why I saw how the beginning of the end was taking its march.

¡! Arya! Arya!  I shouted to my sister, but she ignored me.

"What do you want Faith, I told you I won't do that; why do you have to be so rebellious? Your jokes always get us into trouble," Arya said, trying to persuade me.

Arya was trying to persuade me.

"Why do you always have to be so fearful, I already told you that nothing is going to happen because we go to Chenek Lake, I know the way perfectly, and we don't have to ask for permission, we are 11 years old we don't need a babysitter," I said with my best smile.

"Ok, but promise me you won't leave me alone," she said scared, I knew she would tell me; I tease her so much that the poor thing is afraid I will leave her alone again.

"I promise, come on, let's go before anyone else sees us," I said, and we started walking towards Chenek Lake.

"Faith, have you never wondered why we don't have powers? If we are witches too, I know we won't get our she-wolves until we are 16 and our mate until we are 18, which will be magical to meet our other half. Have you never dreamed of that moment," she said to me, which could tell how excited she was to say those words to me.

I looked at her and could only roll my eyes at her comment, "And who told you that I expect to meet my other half, with me I am more than enough, why would I be excited to be the partner of a possessive, brutish, caveman alpha, they are territorial, and they only need to pee on you to mark their territory.”

She looked at me and flashed a huge smile, "No matter what you tell me, I know deep down you're excited about the idea too, you can't fool me," she said, teasing me, and I don't allow that to anyone.

"Ha, yes, then I hope you have improved your condition because if you don't catch up with me, you will stay alone in the forest, bye," I told her and started to run, we have always been very competitive. Still, in physical tests, I have always been better than her; despite being stubborn, she has never been able to beat me in anything.

¡"! Faith, Faith, Faith! You promised!" was the last thing I heard from Arya when I kept running towards the lake leaving behind, after 15 minutes I saw that I was far away. I started walking enjoying the way, but suddenly someone tripped me, and I fell to the ground.

"! Are you ok? I’m so sorry. Did I hurt you?" he said. Which could perceive in his voice that he was really worried about me; that was the first words I heard from him, but that was enough for my heart to accelerate, and I felt a strange sensation.

I lifted my eyes, and that's when I saw him; he had his hand extended towards me; I think he was also surprised because he was strangely looking at me, his mouth was open, and he kept stuttering.

" Haaaa, really, I’m.., I’m..., I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he said, stuttering.

Our gaze met, and I smiled at him, I placed my hand in his, and he lifted me forcefully, still looking at me.

"I'm so sorry, I should have been more careful, are you ok?" he asked me again, but I was in shock, I couldn’t believe it, but it was the first time I was silent, not knowing what to say.

He just stared at me, and I lost myself in that beautiful smile; he is tall, much taller than me. I should reach his chest easily; his tousled black hair and those beautiful blue eyes that I had never seen before, but now I never wanted to stop seeing them.

"! Yes!!!, Haaa,!!!! Yes, I'm fine!", I said sounding like a real dummy, "wow, your brain reacted, and out of all the vocabulary you know, you said that."

We both stood there looking away from each other, not knowing what to say, until we looked at each other and we both let out a nervous laugh,  "Where are you from? I haven't seen you before, and I usually come here quite often," I asked him somewhat nervously.

He looked at me, and I could sense that he was nervous about my question and hesitated a little, " The truth is that I'm a little lost.”

"Where are you heading?" I asked him to help him, although I think I wished he wouldn't leave and stay by my side for a while longer.

"Towards North Clan, I think I got lost on the way," he said nervously.

"You are heading to Alpha King land, then yes you are lost, but I know the way the truth my parents have taught me this territory, and I know perfectly how you can get there, go straight for about 2 kilometers until you reach a hill that looks like a triangle, you will understand when you see it and go straight; you will be on your way, " I told him excited for being able to help him, it seems that he finally found my sense of reason.

"Thank you, I think I should go," he said as he stroked his hair and placed his hands in his pants pockets, "What's your name, little one? Are you from any pack?" he asked me. I didn't know whether to tell him; he was a stranger despite being young. He must not be older than 15. Still, for a moment, I reacted and answered like the idiot this guy was making me feel.

"Yeah, from Blue Mountain," I said with a stupid grin, "Oh my god, Faith, you're smiling at a boy; what’s wrong with you? You look like a silly schoolgirl in love."

"Wow, so maybe we'll see each other again sometime, you're cute" he walked up to me, and I inadvertently froze, unable to move; he was just inches away from me; I ducked my head; I didn't want him to see my blushing cheeks.

He took my chin with his hand and lifted my head so that I could see him. His eyes stared at me, " And also small as a gardenia flower, and you smell like it with a little vanilla, you know that's my favorite scent.”

We both smiled, and I'm sure he saw my blushing cheeks because his hand caressed one of them.

"I must go, thank you for your help," he said and walked away; I didn't have a chance to tell him my name because I was so nervous; I looked down and saw a bracelet on the ground. I took it and shouted at him, thinking it was his.

"Lanox, you dropped this bracelet," I shouted as I raised my hand, showing it to him.

"Keep it; it's yours, so I can find you if fate brings us together again, goodbye my little gardenia flower."

The bracelet was beautiful braided red with an initial "LN" of Lanox. Still, the letter N, I could not deduce what it would be; I placed it on my forearm and smiled as I remembered whose it was.

On my way to Lake Chenek, I forgot that I had to see Arya; maybe she had already arrived if she was lucky. Her sense of direction is lousy. I do not understand why if we are twins, she can not locate anything.

When I arrived at the Lake, Arya was standing there looking out at the lake; that surprised me a lot, but I was more surprised when she looked at me.

"Faith, what's wrong with your eyes?".

"What do you mean?"

"They are blue; how strange," she said, looking at me as if they had changed color.

"You're hallucinating. It must be, from the reflection of the water, what are you waiting for? Let’s get in," I said and started to take off my clothes.

"I'm not going to get in; it could be infected or with bacteria; I don't understand how you like to come here; someone could see you naked you're crazy," he told me and sat on the rock.

"You still have no sense of adventure; sometimes I doubt we are twins; we are so different even though physically you are my copy,"  I said, laughing at her.

"! Copy of you, in that case, you are my copy, remember I'm the older one, don't forget"

"How could I, if you always remind me," I said and threw the clothes aside and ran to the lake.

The water was crystal clear and calm, I could feel my skin relax every time I swam, but suddenly I felt a shiver and stopped. Something was pressing on my chest, and I felt my body was too heavy.

I looked towards the shore and shouted to Arya, asking for help, but she didn't hear me.

ARYAAAAAAA!    ! ARYAAAAAA! I shouted with all my strength; I saw how mom approached her and looked towards where I was, but it was too late. My body was submerged, and I couldn't go any further. The darkness enveloped me, and everything was dark around me.
