04 Job Hunting

Olivia,

The beta was nice to me, and it was clear the Alpha did not want me in their home. I sat by the lake and ate what was left of my sandwich. After I finished eating it. I decide to go out of the estate to look for a job. I was grateful for what Beta Paul was doing, but I knew it was temporary. I needed to find a job and move out quickly. I shouldn't spend more than that week in that place, or I might get in trouble with Alpha James, and the man did not seem like he would go easy on me if that happened.

I finished the sandwich and took the tray into the mansion. I did not know the way to the kitchen, but one of the workers was kind to take the tray and glass from me. I searched for Beta Paul to see if he could give me a recommendation for the army. After searching for him, I learned he was at the Gazebo with the Alpha. I dreaded seeing him, but I doubted they would be here for long, so I decided to go and see him at the Gazebo.

"Beta Paul," I said, and he looked at me.

"Olivia?" He said, giving me room to speak. Alpha James would not even look at me. What an arrogant bastard.

"I want to enlist in the army. The salary is good, and they give accommodation." I said, and he was stunned.

"Is that why you want to join?" He asked me, and I nodded because that was the truth.

"Alpha Moon is not comfortable with me being here. I do not want to inconvenience you guys. I appreciate what you did for me last night, but I think it is best I joined the army and leave." I said, and James began to laugh.

"Even if you joined the army, you won't get a place to stay immediately." He said, " Besides, I have told you I do not want your likes in my army. You will distract my troops. There are bars and restaurants you can work." He said, and I felt insulted.

"I don't go about seducing people, Alpha. I do not see why you should have a problem with me joining the army unless you are voicing how you feel. Do I make you uncomfortable? Are you attracted to me?" I asked him, and Paul laughed hard. James looked at me, annoyed, and I thought I had made a mistake.

"Don't flatter yourself, Olivia. You are not my type. I do not do Fast women and prostitutes. I wasn't speaking for myself but for the men in the military that might be carried away by your looks." He said I was mad that he wouldn't stop calling me a prostitute. I cursed at Loco for the shame he brought on me and wished something horrible would befall him wherever he was.

"Please, beta Paul." I pleaded, and he shook his head.

"If the Alpha does not want you in the army, there is nothing I can do about it." Knowing I needed the job badly, I swallowed my pride to plead with Alpha James.

"Please tell me what I need to do to prove that I am worthy," I said, and he shook his head.

"Get a job elsewhere," he said, and I sighed.

"If I work at a bar or restaurant, I won't have enough to get a place quickly, and I doubt you want me here longer than a week," I said to him, and he did not respond.

"You can stay here as long as you like," Paul said, but I looked at James, and he was silent.

"Very well then. I will take your advice and get a job at a bar. Please reconsider my request." I said, and I walked away from them.

I did not understand why the guy would hate me so much. I was grateful Paul said I could sit as long as I wanted, but how long will James be silent about it? I needed to make money and leave there quickly. I had some change, so I chose to use it for a cab to town. After walking for almost thirty minutes, I finally found a taxi. I got in immediately and thanked the driver for picking me up.

"Where are you going, Miss?" The cab guy asked me, and I paused to think of my first move. A waiting job won't get me much, but if I served in a bar, I could get big tips from customers. I had friends who worked in bars in Geneva and made money waiting tables and dancing. It was better than prostitution, and no one ever touched them. The money was also good. I decided to try it.

"I am looking for a job at a bar or a club. Do you have any recommendations?" I asked the cab man, and he looked at me through the rearview mirror to be sure he heard me right. I smiled at him so he would know I was serious.

"Well, Miss, there are several clubs here," he said, and I ran my fingers through my hair looking at the scenery through the cab's window.

"Do you know of any that pays good money and has good customers? I am new in town and want to save up to get my own place." I told the guy, and he nodded.

"Green Club hires beautiful strippers all the time. They pay well. Most of the strippers are financially sufficient. They also hire servers and bartenders, but I doubt they get as much as the strippers," He said, and my stomach churned.

"Not to offend you, but you are gorgeous. They will take you in a heartbeat. The good part is you look decent, and the customers aren't allowed to touch the dancers. Only wealthy people visit the club." He said as much as I hated the idea, the fact that no one would touch me was excellent. I was a virgin and wanted to remain that way until I was ready to give it up.

"Other than that, the other bars aren't so great, and you will be better off with a waiting job or as a cleaning lady. The money isn't much, but it is decent," The cab man said, and I admired his honesty and kindness.

"What is your name?" I asked him, and he smiled at me.

"John," He said, and I smiled at him.

"Nice to meet you, John. My name is Olivia. I hope we can be friends." I said, and he beamed at me.

"Who wouldn't want to be friends with a beautiful lady?" He said, and I smiled. We got to Green Club, and I alighted the cab feeling nervous. I never imagined working as a stripper, but I guess my options weren't much, especially if I wanted a roof over my head and food on my table quickly. John gave me his number to call whenever and refused to take payment from me. I was grateful, and I thanked him wholeheartedly.

I walked into the club and requested to see the manager. It was still afternoon, so not much was happening. I was ushered to a small office at the back. The manager was a middle-aged woman with Platinum hair and tiny cat eyes. Her name tag read Lin, and I wondered if it was her name or nickname. It wasn't my concern, so I kept my question to myself.

"How may I help you, young lady?" She asked, and I swallowed hard, unable to respond.

"I.. I... am." I started, and she interrupted.

"Come on, Speak. I do not have all day," she said, and I mustered the courage to speak.

"I am looking for a job, please," I said, and she sighed, examining me with her eyes.

"I do not employ your type. You are too pretty. Most of the time, your kind run off with customers, and I now have to start looking for someone to fill in your slot." She said, and I did not even know what type of job she had in mind.

"If you were to hire me, what job would I do?" I asked just to be sure.

"You can serve. The money is decent. You can also tend the bar, The money is better than the server's, but both jobs will still make you dependent. Stripping is where big money is. Looking at you, I know you need money, but I doubt you are bold enough to strip. Besides, Like I said, I do not hire pretty ladies." She said, and I shook my head.

"Please do not draw conclusions; I can be loyal," I said, and she looked at me.

"I do not need a waiter or a bartender. If you are willing to dance, We can train you for a month, and then you start after. That way, if you leave, I won't miss you," She said, and something in her eyes showed she was going against her better judgement to offer me the job. Considering what John had told me and knowing that I had no one to fall back on if things went sour for me on Woodclaw, I decided to take the job. I had no education, so it was either this or domestic jobs. Which won't get me out of the mansion.

"I agree," I said, and the woman raised her eyebrow.

"So quickly? Are you sure you can dance naked in front of people?" She asked me.

"I can try?" I said, and she laughed.

"Not good enough, young lady. Come back when you are a bit bolder," She said and asked me to leave.

"I will do it," I said in a rush knowing the opportunity might not be available next time.

"Okay. Meet Kitty; she will be your trainer. You can work as a waiter in the meantime so you can start receiving wages. Once you are ready to dance, you can stop the waiting job. You get to keep all your tips," She said, and I thanked her. Someone came to get me from the office, and I braced myself for what was coming.
