My aunt called out to her husband but he didn't respond, he only kept staring down at us.

"Are you not feeling well?" She took a glance at me

"Ariella told me..."

"He's gotten better now, yeah" I interrupted her. "I'm sorry," I apologized.

I just needed to say something so that her attention can be directed at me.

Hope I wasn't raising more suspicion.

"I thought you said that he is sick."

"Yes, I did but right now he's fine aren't you?" I forced a smile at him while I watched my aunt's face from the corner of my eye.

"Alright, welcome home. Are you going to sleep over? It's late already."

The doubt didn't leave her face but she tries to keep things under control.

Was this a setup? I wondered.

My aunt's husband has said that she was out of town.

"I'm going now, I'll take a cab."

"Honey, can you please drop my niece off? It's late and I wouldn't want to put her in a stranger's hands"

"I'm not going anywhere, how about you drop her off?"

"I'm a little tired you know
