My heart was beating fast, like a war drum beating loudly. My feet were pacing back and forth in front of the gynecologist's examination room door, like a lion trapped in a cage.

“Leo, can you stop pacing? Calm down; Serena is fine,” Raymond admonished in a flat voice.

I turned to him, anger burning in my eyes. “How can I be calm when my little girl is struggling in there?”

Sarah patted my shoulder lightly. “Stop overreacting. The gynecologist only checked Serena's condition. And it's not necessarily what you think,” she said in a soft tone.

I wanted to yell at them. How could they be so casual when Serena was in the examination room?
