I greeted her with a forced smile "Mrs. Walker"

Jake growled at her, but not aggressively, it was only a sign of warning. Maybe it was she, who was following me after all and not that psycho stalker. Thankfully, I could handle her better than him.

"Jake no" I ordered.

"Keep him in line" she firmly raised her voice, like she was the one ordering things around. Jake didn't even listen to me; he only took orders from Max.

"I will try" I politely replied, even though politeness wasn't the easy choice.

It was clear to me that she felt like protecting her son from me, from everything I was and did, but that frowned look on her face was so annoying. I wanted to be polite, at least, to her but she getting on my nerves like no one else before. Whatever she had done or said to me, I couldn't ignore the fact that it was his mother and she cared. She cared in her own way but still.

"Is Maximus upstairs?"

"No, he'll stay late at work tonight"

"So, it's just you then"
