A shriek leaves my mouth before I pull myself together. I gulp, trying to loosen the knot in my throat, but it’s useless. My legs shake with the only thought occupying my brain: this was the biggest mistake of my life.

Coming here is just as dangerous as my parents always warned me. They told me over and over again that hunters never give up and that we still have to be careful because they suspect some of us survived.
