Chapter 5

ALLEN

"How is she?" I asked Pedro.

Pedro, who was around the hospital, saw Ben taking Juleka in for treatment.

That got him calling to know what had happened. So, I sent him to check up on Juleka.

"She's fine," He shared.

"Did the doctor say anything about her brain?" I asked, pacing in my room.

Pedro shared the report he got from the doctor without Ben's knowledge.

"You are lucky Allen. You almost cooked her brain. The pressure was too much for her. Juleka is a tough lady. She managed to pass the phase, " Pedro said.

I was relieved to hear she was fine, but curious to know if she remembered anything.

"No, she doesn't. She's still the same."

"Pedro, Juleka was remembering everything. She kept calling me by my name like she always does."

"And you almost cooked her head off. Not cooked, but fried! What were you actually reminding her off? " He asked, but I didn't give him an answer.

Instead, I showed my readiness in repeating the trick once more.

"Just one more time and I'm sure she'd remember who I am to her."

"Allen, I won't advice you to repeat it. Just leave Juleka and let her remember on her own."

"That could take forever."

"It's better than making her brain dead!" Pedro raised, pleading with me to leave Juleka for now, warning about the consequences I'd face in Ben's hands if anything happens to her.

"Just let her be, Bro."

I promised Pedro that I wouldn't bother Juleka about it.

When he ended the call...

"I can't stop now. Just one more try and she'll remember me for sure," I decided.

Ignoring Pedro's warning, I began to follow Juleka around the city, trying to make her remember the past.

And Juleka began to find my presence annoying.

She'd run away from my side or dodge me from getting anywhere near her.

She successfully got cops to follow her about, just to keep me away.

But I wasn't going to give up on her.

All fired up, I came over to the hospital, knowing she would be busy for the cops to even be around her.

I paid a visit to her office, gifting her a similar dress to the one she wore when we signed our contract.

But instead of it sparking her memories, it only made Juleka furious.

"What is wrong with you, Mr Cadell?! Why won't you leave me alone?!" She yelled at me.

Those passing by began to stop and watch.

"You are the most annoying human being I have ever met! Leave before I call my husband to arrest you! And trust me, you won't like him when he's angry, " She threatened me.

Seeing the rage in her eyes, I decided to leave the hospital, making another plan on how to get Juleka to remember me.

I decided to wait for her to close, so I could confront her once again.

When the time struck eight in the night, Juleka came out of the hospital, looking for a cab.

This was my cue to meet her before she leaves.

As soon as I stepped out of my car, someone pulled me to the corner, throwing a punch at my face.

I managed to turn over to see who the bastard was. Only for me to find Ben, throwing another punch at me.

"Stay away from my wife, that was the instruction Cadell."

He grabbed me by the collar, tossing me directly at the wall.

"You may have money, but I have the law on my side. You claim you're married to Juleka but we all know you as a bachelor. What would the public think when they see you chasing someone's wife? " He questioned, referring to Juleka as his wife, sparking my anger towards him.

"If you come anywhere near Juleka, I won't just beat you to a pulp, I'll forget you're a billionaire and make sure you are arrested without bail," He threatened before leaving.

I groaned, feeling my cheek burning hard.

With Ben around Juleka, I have no chance of getting her to myself.

And like he said, he has the law on his side. Though I'm rich, I could get Ben removed from his seat.

But with his past record as a dangerous inspector, it's going to be hard get rid of him or get Juleka back without me going down.

Ben won't give up.

"Damn it." I struggled, heading to my vehicle and leaving.

.

The next day, I stayed home nursing my injured mouth.

The doctors warning and Pedro's advice came into my head, leaving me with no choice but to let Juleka be.

"How long would it take for her to gain her memories?" I wondered, feeling all hope was lost.

"Sir, someone is here to see you, " A maid notified me.

I was about to ask the maid who it was, only for my eyes to fall on Juleka, standing beside her.

"Juleka?" I called, rising to my feet.

She stared at me, until the maid left us alone.

"You're here?"

"Can we talk?" She asked.

I agreed, feeling pleased to have her in my home without me going through the trouble.

"What are you doing here? Did... Did you remember the past? " I asked, believing that she remembers everything.

But Juleka sighed and said, " Please Mr Cadell, can you stop this madness?"

She joined her hands together, begging me to stop chasing her around the city.

"I am not your wife. I am married to Ben, and we have a lovely son. You must have mistaken me for your wife because I look like her, but I can assure you, I'm not her," She pleaded with me.

Her innocence won me over in split seconds. I couldn't take my eyes of Juleka.

She feels she's not my wife, but I know she is. The doctors also confirmed it, so it's impossible to let go of her.

I kept admiring her, wishing I had never allowed her to leave me in the first place.

"I can't bare to see you getting hurt over your assumptions. Just accept the truth and let's make peace," She proposed, extending out her hand to me.

"Mr Cadell, I wish to be your friend and help you out of this situation. But I can only do this if you are ready to stop your hunt. Can I trust you?"

Her hands waiting for my assurance.

I gave out a sigh, nodding at Juleka before taking her hand.

"Yes, I'll stop bothering you. I would also like to be your friend," I accepted.

A smile escaped Juleka's face, as she shook hands with me.

We have agreed to be friends, but my own agreement comes with a plan.

"Juleka, I don't want to hurt you in anyway. But I can't accept this deal by just being your friend. I want you back as my wife. If reliving old memories would make it worst, then you leave me no choice. I'm going to make you fall in love with me again."
