05 - My She-wolf

Malia

After the kiss, Jaden seemed to be fighting his wolf not to devour me at the minute that we were in the same place.

"This is your room," He opens a door, giving me entry. "This is where you will sleep. Luna's room is next to mine."

"This is Luna's room?" I ask, amazed.

"Yes, that's what you will be." Jaden murmurs with a huge smile.

"Jaden, I don't..." I turn to face him, but I lose my words.

I can't accept this. I can't simply take a place like that. I never imagined it would be mine. He is King Alpha, not by right, but by honor. What did I do to help conquer his empire? What did the moon goddess see in me to hand me over to an Alpha King?

"I don't understand," He says, holding my elbow. "Why don't you want Luna's room?"

"I'm not Luna, Jaden. You're not even sure if I'm your mate, so how can you give me such an honor? I don't know if I deserve this!"

"And why wouldn't you be?" He asks, with confusion in his eyes.

"I don't know. I'm divorced!" I stare at my fingers. "I was rejected and didn't have a she-wolf until a few hours ago. I'm confused about the things that are happening."

Jaden holds my fingers, forcing me to look at him. His eyes seem to be searching for something on my face, too attentive.

"Forget everything I said, okay?" His eyes are piercing against mine. Jaden seems to be fighting something within himself. "Rest."

And he left, leaving me alone in the room.

I stare at the door for a few seconds before. I start to explore the whole place, curious.

The room had no decoration. The walls were white, and a vanity stretched on the left wall, with a large mirror that took up a good part of the wall. A king-size bed and two bedside tables with lamps. A little table on the balcony with two chairs.

"He is so beautiful." The voice in me catches my attention, making me jump in place.

"W-who are you?" I ask, sitting on the comfortable bed.

"I am Fawn, your she-wolf." She says, excited. "I've been hiding for so long," I close my eyes, and she's there, stretching her legs. "It's so good to be able to walk."

"Why have you been gone for so long?" I ask, letting the bitterness show in my voice.

"I needed to, Malia. Or they would have used you," she murmurs.

"Why would they use me? What do I have so special besides being a woman without a she-wolf?" I ask, curling up in the bed.

"Malia, if I had shown up before... it would have hurt a lot when your mate betrayed you. It would have hurt even more when your link with him has broken. You could never have been happy in that place..." She explains.

"You knew everything? Did you know everything that would happen to me?" I question, shocked. I never heard about wolves being able to predict the future.

"Of course, dear." She sighs, trying to appear calmer. "I feel so sorry that you had to go through so much. Those people were cruel to you, but it won't go unpunished. They will regret all of this. Now, you are with your true mate."

"And Joshua wasn't my true mate?" I say, furrowing my brow.

"Yes, but it's difficult to explain now. There are things I can't tell you so as not to interfere with your destiny, Malia. I'm no ordinary wolf here, so you'll have to make up your own decisions when that day comes. But initially, you can enjoy it with your mate..."

"I don't know if he wants me," I say, throwing myself back.

"Of course he does. He's a possessive wolf, haven't you seen? He's very handsome," She gives a sly smile. "Enjoy with him while you still don't have headaches."

"If only he wanted me..." I pout.

"Stop with this nonsense. It has a bad past. Lilith will reassure him about you." She says confidently.

"And when can we transform?" I ask, excited.

"Very soon." She says, excited. "I can't wait to meet my mate. Joshua was boring," she rolls her eyes, and I chuckle. "Jaden seems more wild. And now, we will have the bond."

I run my hand over my neck and sigh, excited. Everyone I know carries the mark of their mate, except for me. Being a wolfless has its downsides.

Two knocks on the door startle me, and I sit up in bed, shouting. "Come in."

"Hello, you must be Malia!" The blonde girl enters the room, and I shrink.

"Yes, and you?" I ask.

"Catherine. I'm Jaden's cousin." She smiles, excited. Her hand was towards me.

I shake it, still awkward.

"I can't believe Jaden found his predestined mate. He searched for so long." She holds my face between her fingers. "And you're still beautiful. Where are you from?"

"Red Stone Pack," I murmur, and she widens her eyes, staring at me.

"What are you doing so far from home?" She asks, furrowing her brow. "Don't tell me..."

"Don't disturb her so much," Jaden says, entering through the door. "Catherine, I told you she needed to rest."

"I'm not taking your mate to a party. I'm trying to make her feel at home." She smiles at me, showing the dimple on her cheeks. "How are you?"

"Fine," Jaden lightly hugs her. Fawn growls inside me. "Your mate is looking for you."

"He can't live without me." She says, displaying a proud smile. "See you later, Malia?"

"Uh, sure!" I smile, still not knowing how to act around her.

When she leaves, I take my eyes to Jaden.

"What happened?" I ask.

"I came to call you for dinner," he murmurs. "But the view from your room is very nice. We can stay here if you want."

"Are you sure?" I wink at him.

"Catherine will have the company of her mate, while Lilith likes to be alone. She'll thank you for not having to socialize. And besides, you're sick," Jaden smiles. "I won't force you to strain yourself now, future Luna."

His smile widens. He seems much less confused than hours, his eyes now have a sparkle, and even with a grain of doubt, I feel happy to be with him and finally to be able to feel all the emotions that the bond brings at once.
