Jaden massages my shoulders as I stare at the sea from inside my cabin. I sigh loudly, feeling my heart beating so hard in my chest that I almost feel short of breath.

I moisten my lips and rest my head on his chest, looking down at him. He gives me a weak smile.

Neither of us is well enough to talk. Neither of us is sure that this was the right decision. All this for a lady-in-waiting?

Well, deep down, I just wanted everyone to know I was alive. I wanted to see their faces when they found out that I was actually Jaden's mate, that I had a wolf, and that I had managed to survive.

They wanted me dead, after all. They gave me up for dead to everyone. What would their reaction be when they found out that I was actually alive and well? They must have heard the news by now.

I wish Vincent had stayed. He was a good companion, most of the time. But since he worked as an official courier, he traveled all the time and always liked to tell me about his adventures and discoveries.
