Chapter 156

Eden held Carter's throat as he struggled to get out of her grip, but he was too weak and too much in pain to affect anything. Suddenly, Eden heard a gunshot. A bullet had flown right past her ear, grazing her cheek and ear. She lost the grip on Carter's throat and fell to the side, her whole head ringing loudly with the sound of the bullet.

Eden looked up to see that Carter was holding the gun that she had dropped. She was lying on the floor and Carter was standing over her. He grabbed a fistful of her hair and pulled her all the way to the helicopter. He was limping heavily but still managed to carry Eden to the helicopter.

Eden wasn't going with him, she had already made up her mind. With her ears still ringing, she tried to fight Carter to have him let go of her, but she sensed that his strength had multiplied tenfold.
