[Seraphine's POV]

“Cassian!”

All the confusion and suffering I endured just to catch a glimpse of his face, Jesse's sacrificed life, nearly dying multiple times due to flawed strategies – all the hardships I've endured turned into a rainbow as my irises caught the alpha figure I had been desperately seeking.

He came from an unexpected direction. His body was covered in bloodstains, which I assumed weren't his own. On the right side of his royal attire, swords and other sharp implements they commonly used in warfare were present.

The way he ran emitted a clinking sound originating from the swords on his back. Cassian wasn't much different from me; he ran without regard for his surroundings.

Perhaps the body parts trampled by his leather-clad boots belonged to the fallen soldiers of his kingdom. The ongoing battle behind us was ignored. As if the world belonged only to the two of us, Cassian's hands reached out to embrace me.
