Episode 16

"Cassian. It seems like Solstice is starting to suspect my powers," I began telling him about what I had realized from our conversation earlier.

Continuing with my breath still labored, "He asked if I was a witch."

"What?" Cassian's face showed surprise. "How is that possible? Didn't you erase his memories?"

I just nodded. My body was still too weak to argue with him.

"Tsk. The problem is getting more complicated. It feels like my intention to save my village is becoming even longer."

I had anticipated that Cassian would yell at me, or in the worst-case scenario, he would harm me. But reality took a different turn.

As I lowered my head anxiously, I felt a pair of strong hands slipping behind both of my legs. Cassian lifted me. More precisely, he cradled and lifted me from the floor.

"C-Cassian?" I murmured in confusion. "W-where are we going?"

"To the room," he replied shortly. "Your face is pale. At least rest yourself until dawn."
