[Seraphine’s POV]

"T-that's ... Your Majesty ..." Gevanny lost his emotional balance. The adrenaline he used to make Cassian stop walking had evaporated and turned into a tremendous fear.

I watched the two of them engage in a small argument. From the arguments before me, I concluded that Cassian had been working with Gevanny for a long time. He seemed eager to control his anger and not yell at Gevanny in front of me.

"Cassian, stop. It's okay, don’t worry. I can go down alone." Finally, I decided to take a middle ground.

"You stay here, wait for me. Let me go down alone," I said. Then I felt Cassian's tight grip on my shoulder.

"Seraphine, wait. You want to go down alone?" Cassian's disapproval echoed in my ears.

"Gevanny is right. You should just wait here, let me go down," I said, releasing his grip on my shoulder.

"No. Don't be foolish. I'm coming down with you. Hurry, get on my back. We'll go down together," Cassian insisted.
