[Seraphine's POV]

His silence infuriated me. If it weren't for my weakened body, I would have cursed at him or even forced him to speak as I had done before.

Jesse, too, seemed to be hiding something from me. It was my mistake not to check the letter he wrote earlier before it was sent. I was worried he might have written something about me visiting the Eldoria public cemetery before we checked into the hotel.

"Considering my recent argument with Cassian a few days ago, if he finds out I did something without his knowledge, there will be a new drama unfolding," I thought to myself.

"Ha …" Even sighing seemed unable to change the mess my mind was in.

With my head throbbing, I endured the loud sound of iron carriage wheels in my ears. The place where I lay continued to rattle as it traversed steep streets.

My state of mind was no different. My consciousness, which had previously detached from its source, suddenly regained focus as the image of Cassian's angry face filled my thoughts.
