Jaxon's POV

"I thought you weren't coming until tonight?" I asked, clenching my jaw so hard, I'm surprised I don't break a molar.

"Change of plans," Rubeus responds.

I narrow my eyes. "What changed?"

Melanie slides past me to greet them. "Jaxon, stop asking so much questions. Who cares, let's just get this done."

"Smart girl," Dusk chuckles. Rubeus creates another portal with his finger and motions for us to walk through it.

Melanie steps forward, but I grab her arm and yank her beside me. I wrap my arm firmly around her waist. "Jaxon," she protests.

"First, tell us where the hell we are going," I demand. Shadow peers at them through my eyes. He agrees that we can't trust them at all not to put our mate in danger. So, there's no fucking way we're blindly going anywhere with them.

Dusk smirks, amusement dancing in his icy blue eyes. "You still don't trust us, Alpha?"

Did he expect my answer to change? Because it never will.
