Chapter 20

MELVIN’S POV

I hated the fact that I had to leave Ariel on her own.

It felt like she was starting to warm up to me and I didn’t want to jeopardize that progress.

Once again, my Father found a way to ruin things for me. Every second spent away from her was another chance for her to remember that I was her sworn enemy’s son and that just ruined every ounce of trust I was trying to build with her.

I frowned as I walked through the castle’s gates remembering what Father had said earlier.

Did he really have an update about where she was? Could they know?

I shook my head, brushing off the thought of my Father and his goons having a clue as to where Ariel was. But I needed to know what this update was. It could be important.

I saw one of the maids crossing the yard and called out to her.

“Has dinner been served?”

“Yes, my prince, your Father, and Mother are already seated at the table,” she said, head bowed.

“Okay. Thank you, you can go.”
