Chapter Twenty-Nine

I understood what they meant by the roof when Hayden led me up there.

After Hayden told the woman that we could go up by ourselves, the woman bowed, then walked away, and Hayden put his hand on my back and led me onto the elevator, pressing for the top floor.

When the door opened, I could not believe my eyes. This place looked amazing; the lights were dimmed so you could look over the New York nightlife, and it turned different colors at intervals.

I could see a table with plates on it, but it was not so clear what was on the plates from where I was standing. The smell of food filled my nostrils, so there was no use in using my enhanced sight.

"Come," Hayden said, leading me into the room and pulling out a chair for me. I sat down but continued looking around, not saying a word, because I was still mesmerized by what I was seeing.

"This looks amazing. How did you plan all this?" I said and pointed at the room.
