CHAPTER 3— A Handsome, But Arrogant Man

Rain’s Point of View

There was no one in the living room when I came down from the room I slept in. I peeked at the veranda but was disappointed that there might be someone there. I felt thirsty, so I walked inside the enormous mansion. I passed many doors but never tried to open them.

If it wasn’t because I felt hungry, I really had no intention of leaving the room. Also, I’m still going to find my mother because I have something else to ask her.

I didn’t memorize the hallway I was walking in because it had been a while since I was last there. This hallway is one place I have the worst memories. And as far as I can remember, this long hallway has several pictures of relatives of the entire Floris clan.

I just swallowed and shook my head when something came back to my mind… I poured it, and there was almost lightning that night. The thunder was so deafening that I covered both of my ears with my palms. It seemed to be in front of me and I can now see the scene where Auntie Merceditas is dragging my mommy.

“This mansion is really big,” I whispered to myself as I looked at the wall of the hallway I was walking. There are paintings hanging along it and there is also furniture, such as tables and chairs that are antiques. “Where’s the kitchen? Where are they?” I sighed heavily. I don’t know where to start looking for my mommy.

I continued walking and when I saw the dining area where we had eaten earlier, I breathed a sigh of relief. I even thought that I might get lost in the enormous mansion.

There is another entrance to the right of the dining area, so I went in there and I was not mistaken. That was the kitchen. I grabbed a glass and went straight to the fridge to get some water. When I drank, the coldness and freshness of what I drank immediately crawled into my throat.

Carrying the half-full glass of water, I walked around. I am now wearing a floral dress with thin ruffles on the lower part. I only had flats on my feet while I tied my long hair up.

From where I am standing, I can now see a part of the garden that was my favorite place to hang out. I was almost in awe of the beauty of the garden when I got used to it. Its size and breadth. The flowers are of different colors and types.

“Wow!” I exclaimed while continuing to walk. I immediately reached inside the sling bag for the cell phone and focused the lens on the garden. While walking, I was still shooting pictures in this beautiful place when suddenly my camera caught something.

The bulk of the man busily tending the plants was in a corner of the garden. It has no top and only wears denim pants and boots. He still has a cowboy hat on his head. The hands are wearing gloves while holding a large pair of scissors and cutting the plants. The man’s body is beautiful. Every movement of its biceps seemed to have a mind of its own following the movement of the hand.

“Holly Gee!” I almost dropped my cell phone when I was about to let it go. The man turned to face me and they caught me in what I was doing. My chest pounded, and I heard it. My eyes rolled. I don’t know where to look and what.

“Who are you?” he asked, while frowning.

It slowly stepped closer to where I was. I was confused because he would catch me. I was about to go back inside the mansion when the man spoke again. I turned towards it and I almost became a statue when I saw its face. Pointed nose, hazel-nut colored eyes, thin red lips. The eyebrows grow as well as the eyelashes. His broad shoulders are perfect. He looks like a God from Olympus.

“Who are you? Why are you stealing my photos?” There is a hint of irritation in his voice.

But I don’t care. I faced the man completely and looked at him. “What did you say?”

“Why did you rob me?”

“I’m not robbing you!”

“Really? Why were you taking a picture of me earlier with your cellphone?”

“Oh! You’re so arrogant, aren’t you? You’re feeling too much!” I snort here. I didn’t mean to catch him with my camera.

“You’re too late, I just caught you, but you’re still denying it!” he still speaks to me.

My eyes widened because of what I heard. “Excuse me!” My chest heaved because of the annoyance I felt for the person I was talking to. “You’re so thick! Who are you? You’re just a gardener here, so do not talk to me like that!” I said before turning around and going inside the mansion.

‘The thickness of that man! Guess who is the God of beauty!’

When I entered the room, I was still out of breath from walking so fast. I closed my breath and just closed my eyes. I took the cell phone and looked at the male gardener.

“What a shame! You’re so handsome, but you’re so arrogant!” I snorted and let go of the phone so that it landed on top of the bed. I closed my eyes to relax. I was in that situation for a while.

After a while, my cell phone rang. I felt it and when I saw that the caller was my daddy, I lazily got up and sat down before answering the call. “Dad?” My voice was bitter when I mentioned it.

“Where are you? I came from your room earlier, but you weren’t there.”

“I’m back in the room. Why?”

“Your Granny Aitana is here. She’s on a hill here in the garden,” he said.

“Garden? That’s where I’m from, but you’re not there.”

“Which part of the garden did you go to? Not the Floral garden, Ember. The hill is located in Butterfly Haven.”

I just patted my own forehead because of the stupidity. I didn’t think that with the huge size and breadth of the villa, it might have different gardens. I didn’t want to end the call and rolled over on the bed.
